The Pulse
Formerly Thursdays 9:00 PM
The Pulse, a one-hour newsmagazine series produced by FOX News, premiered Thursday, July 11 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Shepard Smith, anchor of the No. 1 cable newscast, FOX News Channel's (FNC) "The FOX Report," will host the program.
The premiere episode of THE PULSE featured an explosive and frightening story that no American should miss. Geraldo Rivera exposes smugglers who are bringing illegal immigrants of Middle Eastern descent into the United States across the Mexican border. The story includes an interview with an Iranian man, now sitting in jail in Mexico, who admits that he smuggled men into the US and believes their intent was to commit acts of terror.
Bill O'Reilly takes on Michael Newdow, the man who sued to have the phrase "under God" taken out of the Pledge of Allegiance. In typical O'Reilly fashion, he explores the controversial issue of removing the phrase "under God," which has had all of America talking.
Also, FNC's Catherine Herridge tells the story of Mel Spillman, a court clerk who was making $33,000 a year but still managed to buy a mansion filled with expensive art and antiques. His air-conditioned garage was filled with Ferraris. Spillman told his friends that he inherited the money from relatives, but the money was not from his relatives. Spillman altered wills that came through his office in probate court and made himself the heir.
Laurie Dhue and Linda Vester are correspondents for The Pulse.
The Pulse will air for nine consecutive weeks through Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002. William Shine is the executive producer.
