Carol Kane photo Since her debut in the American film classic "Carnal Knowledge," Carol Kane has become one of the most distinctive and dependable actresses working in Hollywood.

Kane garnered an Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of a newly arrived immigrant Jewish bride in the feature "Hester Street." Additional film credits include memorable roles in "The Last Detail" (opposite Randy Quaid, her co-star in THE GRUBBS), "Dog Day Afternoon," "Annie Hall," "When A Stranger Calls," "The Princess Bride," "The World's greatest Lover," "The Lemon Sisters," "Scrooged" and "Addams Family Values." Most recently, Kane appeared in the feature "My First Mister."

Television audiences will forever remember Kane as Simka Gravas, the feisty mountain person married to Andy Kaufman's Latka on the award-winning comedy series "Taxi." Kane earned two Emmy Awards for her performance on that show. She also appeared on the series "Brooklyn Bridge," "Pearl" and "Beggars and Choosers."

Kane has an impressive stage career, appearing in the Lincoln Center productions of "Macbeth" and "The Tempest," as well as Terrence McNally's "Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune" and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Beth Henley's "Control Freaks," "Signature" and "Lucky Spot." Most recently, Kane garnered rave reviews for her performance in "He Hunts" at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles.
