Lea Thompson Caroline Duffy on Caroline in the City
Lea Thompson stars as Caroline Duffy, a cartoonist who lives in the city, has a crazy neighbor, and a very confusing love life. She is just trying to figure one thing out: is her comic strip just like life, or is her life like a comic strip?Moving easily between dramatic and comedic roles, Lea Thompson has established a career that encompasses television, theatre and film. A native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Thompson began her career as a professional ballet dancer, becoming a member of the prestigious Pennsylvania Ballet Company at the age of 16. At 19, she moved to New York to pursue acting. Thompson was first cast in a small role in the feature film Jaws 3-D, and then starred opposite Tom Cruise in All the Right Moves. Her additional theatrical credits include the hugely-successful Back to the Future trilogy, Article 99, Casual Sex?, Some Kind of Wonderful, Dennis the Menace, Red Dawn, The Wizard of Loneliness, Howard the Duck, The Wild Life, Space Camp and The Beverly Hillbillies. Recently, Thompson appeared in the telefilms The Right to Remain Silent and The Unspoken Truth. She has also appeared in the network telefilms The Substitute Wife and Montana, as well as having had guest-starring roles on the series Tales from the Crypt and Nightbreaker; she received a Cable ACE Award nomination for the latter. Thompson's latest project is the independent feature The Unknown Cyclist, which focuses on an AIDS benefit bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Her theatre work includes Bus Stop at the Pasadena Playhouse and The Illusion at the Los Angeles Theater Company. Thompson also appeared in the Powerhouse Theater's production of Long Time Coming, Charlie Bacon's Family at the John Drew Theater in East Hampton and The Trip Down Back at the Actor's Repertory Theater. Thompson lives in Los Angeles with her husband, film director Howard Deutch, and their two daughters.
