David Cross Tobias Funke on Arrested Development
While studying at Emerson College in Boston, David Cross discovered his affinity for stand-up comedy. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles to begin his professional comedy career. In 1993, he earned an Emmy Award for writing "The Ben Stiller Show." He went on to co-create the critically acclaimed sketch comedy series "Mr. Show with Bob and David," which garnered a CableACE Award nomination in 1996. He also starred in "David Cross: The Pride Is Back," a one-hour stand-up comedy cable special that aired in 1999. Additionally, Cross has made guest appearances on numerous television series that include "Just Shoot Me," "The Drew Carey Show" and "NewsRadio." He also provides the voice of Jiggle Billy for the animated show "Aqua Teen Hunger Force."Cross' feature film credits include "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," "Scary Movie 2," "Men in Black," "Men in Black II," "Dr. Dolittle 2," "Ghost World," "Pootie Tang," "Chain of Fools," "Small Soldiers," "Cable Guy," "The Truth About Cats and Dogs," "Waiting for Guffman" and "Destiny Turns on the Radio." He starred in the feature "Run, Ronnie, Run!," based on various "Mr. Show" characters. Cross was nominated for a Grammy Award for his album "Shut Up, You F***ing Baby," which was recorded during a sold-out 2002 national tour. He went on to release the DVD "Let America Laugh," a feature-length documentary about his time spent on the road during this tour. In May 2004, Cross released "It's Not Funny," a followup album to "Shut Up" recorded in January in Washington, DC. He currently divides his time between New York and Los Angeles.
