Marshall University medical school faculty member elected as chair of national group

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.


A faculty member at Marshall University's medical school has been elected to chair a national organization.

Officials say Darshana Shah has been named as the chair-elect of the Association of American Medical College's Group on Faculty Affairs Steering Committee. She will lead committee in 2015-2016 academic year.

Shah is the associate dean for faculty affairs and professional development at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. She is a professor and chief of the pathology academic section, department of pathology and has been with the medical school since 1997.

Officials say the mission of the Group on Faculty Affairs is to build and sustain faculty vitality in medical schools and teaching hospitals.
