DAVIS & ELKINS-RESTAURANT
Davis & Elkins closes on-campus inn's restaurant after reviewing financial results

ELKINS, W.Va.

Davis & Elkins College is closing its on-campus inn's restaurant until further notice.

The Inter-Mountain reports that college officials announced the Mingo Dining Room's shutdown on Wednesday.

The restaurant is located in the Graceland Inn and Byrd Conference Center.

Davis & Elkins President Michael Mihalyo says college officials decided to close the restaurant after reviewing Graceland's operating results for the fiscal year that ended June 30.

Mihalyo says turning a profit in the dining operation has been a longtime challenge. He says previous administrations also closed the restaurant on occasion, most recently for several weeks in May 2011.

Mihalyo says he hopes this closure also is temporary. College officials are exploring several options.
