WVA CORRUPTION CHARGES
Ex-Mingo County magistrate awaiting sentencing on vote charge arrested for violating bond

Reported by: Associated Press
Tuesday, February 11, 2014 11:37 AM EST
CHARLESTON, W.Va.

A former Mingo County magistrate awaiting sentencing on a federal vote charge is back in jail.

U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin says Dallas Toler was arrested Monday night for violating the conditions of his bond.

A motion filed Monday by Goodwin's office seeks the revocation of Toler's bond. It alleges that Toler has been involved in distributing cocaine while out on bond awaiting sentencing.

Toler pleaded guilty on Dec. 2, 2013, to federal charges that he illegally registered a convicted felon to vote in the 2012 primary election. His sentencing on that charge is set for March 10.

Toler's lawyer in the vote case, Joseph M. Farrell Jr., didn't immediately return a telephone message Tuesday.

Toler was being held Tuesday at the South Central Regional Jail in Charleston.
