Even before Gordon Gee became West Virginia University's interim president, the bow tie was making a comeback.
He tells the Charleston Daily Mail that while he still prefers wearing a traditional long tie, many young men are looking for something different in their neckwear. His store carries bow ties in many varieties, including solids, stripes, paisley prints and polka dots.
Another clothing store owner, Anthony Paranzino, says the popularity of bow ties has moved into formal wear.
The bow tie is a signature look for Gee, who started wearing them when he was about 15. He has about 1,000 bow ties in his current wardrobe.
