A former West Virginia sheriff has been sentenced to probation for hacking his now ex-wife's work computer.
Federal prosecutors say Slack secretly installed a keystroke logger on a computer in the county magistrate court in April where his wife worked. They were married at the time.
Slack admitted he intended to monitor her activity.
Lisa Slack gave an emotion plea for probation before her ex-husband was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John T. Copenhaver Jr.
Miles Slack resigned in September. He had faced up to five years in prison. Federal prosecutors sought a lighter, unspecified sentence.
Miles and Lisa Slack exchanged a long hug after the hearing.
