Organizers of an obstacle course in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle say they've made changes in some safety procedures for this weekend's event, including the oversight of a water pit involved in an April drowning.
Avishek Sengupta of Ellicott City, Md., died a day after being pulled from the water pit at the "Walk the Plank" obstacle April 20. A medical examiner ruled he accidentally drowned.
Tough Mudder Chief Operating Officer Don Baxter says the event's safety procedures and obstacles have been re-examined. He says rails were added to "Walk The Plank" and lifeguards will focus on specific areas rather than watching the entire pool.
