A nonprofit group in Virginia is raising money to return a slaying victim's remains to her family in the Philippines.
Waynesboro police detective Alyssa Campbell tells media outlets that Tait's family needs closure. But they are indigent and can't afford the cost.
Tait's body was found in 2002 in the Greenbrier State Forest in West Virginia. She wasn't listed as missing until 2011 and her body wasn't identified until fall 2012. Her husband, 53-year-old Thomas Neal Tait, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in West Virginia and is serving a 30-year sentence. The sentence is concurrent with a 30-year sentence in Waynesboro for child porn possession.
