GREECE-CABINET RESHUFFLE
Greek PM reshuffles cabinet, replaces finance minister with economics professor

Reported by: Associated Press
Reported: Monday, June 9, 2014 11:33 AM EDT
ATHENS, Greece

Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras has reshuffled his Cabinet following the conservative-led coalition government's weak showing in European parliamentary elections last month, including replacing his finance minister with a finance and economics professor.

Outgoing Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras is widely rumored to be taking over the governorship of the Bank of Greece. He is being replaced by Gikas Hardouvelis, the chief economist at Eurobank, the government announced Monday during a broad cabinet reshuffle.

Hardouvelis served as director of the economic office of two previous prime ministers.

Other changes in the reshuffle include the ministers of the interior, public order, education, culture and health.
