CHINA-TRAIN STATION ATTACK
Police say 6 passengers injured in hacking attack at one of China's busiest train stations

Reported by: Associated Press
Reported: Tuesday, May 6, 2014 1:45 AM EDT
BEIJING

Police in south China say six passengers have been injured in a hacking attack at one of the country's busiest train stations.

Guangzhou police said on their microblog that the incident happened Tuesday morning at Guangzhou Railway Station. The statement says police shot and subdued a male suspect who had a knife. It wasn't clear from the statement whether there was more than one attacker.

Police say six people have been injured and taken to hospital, not including the suspect.

No possible motive for the attack was given.

In March, another hacking attack at a train station in south-west China blamed on separatists in the country's far west left 33 dead. China has also seen mass stabbings carried out by people bearing grudges against society or suffering from mental illness.
