Official: Bomb blast on passenger train kills 5 in southwest Pakistan
Reported by: Associated Press
Reported: Monday, October 21, 2013 4:06 AM EDT
A Pakistani government official says a bomb struck a passenger train in the country's southwest, killing five people.
The district's deputy commissioner, Sohail Rehman, says the bomb exploded on Monday morning, killing five people and wounding 10. It also derailed four railcars.
The town is roughly 300 kilometers east of the provincial capital, Quetta.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
The province has been affected by a low-level insurgency by separatist groups, who want more shares in the region's natural resources. Al-Qaida linked Sunni militant groups also operate there.
