Iraq has been hit by another wave of deadly car and suicide bombings today.
The bulk of the blasts struck the Iraqi capital shortly after nightfall. Authorities reported seven car bomb explosions across Baghdad, including one near a playground that killed two children.
The bloodshed began early today when a suicide bomber blew up a car packed with explosives among houses in an ethnic minority village near Mosul in northern Iraq. Police say that attack killed at least 15 and wounded 52.
The attacks come as Iraqis are celebrating the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha this week.
