A SAMPLING OF YOUR RESPONSES:

No! And ask the devil, seams like he is at work in our government And our schools, Where are we going to next, Guns, We are already doing that too. Thanks BUSH.
E. Thorn, Parkersburg
I think it is absolutely ridiculous that anyone on this earth would even suggest something such as this. Ya know, no wonder things are the way they are today.
Erin Messer, Catlettsburg
No, because not everyone has the same religion. Why force YOUR religion on other people. The pledge of allegiance shouldn't have anything to do with religion.
Chris Bowman, Pilgrim, KY
There are many different religions and we need to respect all of them by not saying under God.
Rosie and Olivia Morris, Hurricane
It needs to stay, because God created the world to begin with and he is the real reason why we are even hear to recite it. It would be disrespecting God. What is the world coming to if God's name disappears?
Blake Bentley, Grayson, KY
I feel that the words under God should remain in the constitution. If if weren't for God we wouldn't have a country or life itself!
Rebecca Hendrickson, Parkersburg
I agree with the children's comments - it would be disrespectful to remove such important words from our nation's pledge. If anyone objects - they should remain silent.
DeLynn Coppoletti, South Webster
Our founding fathers included these words for a reason. We all need God in our lives. Our nations belief in God has helped us through many World Wars and our own Civil War.
Ed and Lesa Eskew, Charleston
Under God should stay in the pledge. There's really no good reason or argument against it and we need God right now and always.
Joy, Barboursville
YES I belive the words under God means a lot to the USA. God is the leader and back bone of the USA.If it was not for God we would be in more touble. I belive that if they take the words UNDER GOD out of the pleadge it is saying we dont belive in God. I stand behind the pleadge and say leave the words uner god in the pleadge!
Sabrina Adkins, Greenup
I most certainly do think that Under God should remain in the Pledge of Allegiance! We need to stand up for this and not let what happened when one atheist woman got prayer removed from our schools some time ago.
Barbara Holmes, Charleston
Yes! No question about it. Leave it in!
David, April and Aaron Adkins, Chapmanville
There is no valid reason to remove the words, under God, from the pledge. They were added by the Congress in or around 1954 as a reminder of God's grace on this nation and as a nation we are in no less need of the grace of God today than we were then.
Wayne Hooper, Scott Depot
We are always asked to give up what we believe in, but a small number of individuals feel they should get their way. If you dont believe in something they have the right not to take part. Why should we not have the right to participate?
Arnie, Sissonville
Does this mean if we take UNDER GOD out of The Pledge of Allegence that the government will have to take IN GOD WE TRUST off of money. What are people doing to the future of our children? When we take God from the life of our children where will they end up when they are adults?
Kevin & Margie Kiper, St. Albans
yes i think it should stay in the pledge because its been like that for years why is someone just now saying something about it. under god should stay in it because if people chage it so that part wont be in it then some people might not say it at all.
Jessica Affolter, Grayson
Many ethics/mores and laws in this nation are based upon God's law (Biblical), such as thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not commit adultery, etc.
Joe Diltz, Charleston
We need to take a stand now, before it is too late to save our God in the Pledge. We have already lost our prayers, in school.
Andrew Samples, Procious
I think it mean alot to people who go to church. People should not change things because they don't believe in god. Because he made the heaven and earth.
T. Linzey, Hurricane
I believe that they have no right to remove under god from the pledge of allegiance. They've already taken him out of so many things because of their beliefs. But yet they arent thinking about other peoples beliefs. If they dont want their children to say the pledge than they should tell their childs school so that they would not have to say it. But allow the other children to say the pledge of allegiance. We have rights too.
Priscilla Barker, Alum Creek
The words under God should remain in the Pledge of Allegiance because I believe a nation that turns its back on God is certain to be doomed.
Brian Morris, Scott Depot
What does freedom of speech realy mean must mean only when I dont metion GOD we are loosing site of what are country was built on lets get back on track
Sherrie Lovejoy, Fraziers Bottom
It just seems to me that this country is trying to distance itself from God when we need him the most.
Steve Burgess, Charleston
This used to be the United States of America, now I believe this is the United States of the minority. It is heart breaking that it can take one person to take away something for so many that believe in it. Let's take a stand for the majority.
Cheryl Thomas, St. Albans
People need to go back to their history books and read how we became a Nation! The Pledge of Allegiance was founded from that, so the religion and the Pledge are one not seperate.!
Sherrie Combs, St. Albans
I think this califoria atheist is just trying to get the attention he was deprived of when he was small cause both of his parents worked and left him home alone. Leave Under God in the pledge cause we are truely one blessed nation.
Glen Godby, Saint Albans
Yes I thank they should leave The Pledge of Allegiance the way it is. Because you start messing with God's stuff he is coming back one day and they will have to answer to him. God made this world and if they take that out your discrasing God. I love God and I'm happy to be a Christian and if someone takes that away that is definetley not being a Christian. Just a conserned sister of Christ.
Robin Belcher, Princeton
If the majority votes to keep it then he/she should shut up like we have too for a lot of things we believe.
Sandra L. Tucker, Charleston
I believe the words under GOD should remain in the Pledge of Allegience, after all, if it weren't for GOD, there would be no earth, nor would there be people!
Sheila, Ravenswood
I believe if we (as a nation) continue to take GOD out of the equation, we can count on another Sept. 11 and even worse. If we would turn back to GOD, we would not need Home Land Security.
Whitney Monk, Beckley
people who believe in god have just as many rights as people who dont how could anyone not believe or care I think 1 reason is because if someone is a homosexual they know that it is against the bible and they are scared to admit they believe because they know that it is a sin so i think that we should keep the under god in the pledge because its written that way and we all need to believe and trust in god
Jason Jones, Charleston
The words UNDER GOD should definately stay in the Pledge. This country was founded on Godly principles. This nation can't afford to do away with God. They have already taken prayer out of schools. IF someone doesn't want to say Under God or the whole pledge then thats just a choice. This nation was founded under God.
David Babbitt, Clendenin
By all means. Who does people think made the earth & all its contents, including us.
Katheryn L. Kerby, Grantsville, WV
Yes it needs to stay in the Pledge of Allegiance. Look at the kids today and the schools with all the violence. If kids were told about God and what Jesus had to go through for us, the world would be a better place. Keep God in the schools, keep God in the workplace, keep God in your homes and hearts!
FB, West Hamlin
it would be totally ridiculous for them to take under God out of the pledge! it has been in there since the begining and it needs to stay. if people don't like it than they have something wrong in there heart and maybe they need to consider fixing it!
Dresden Matson, So. Chas.
Give me a break! Isn't there better things to do with our time. Do people just sit arround thinking up this stupid stuff or what? The Supreme Courts time could be better utilized without thinking about this type of nonsence. If someone doesen't agree with any part of the Pledge then just don't say it....But don't ruin it for me because I enjoy it.
R Davis, Cross Lanes
I don't believe our states are always united, or that we have liberty and justice for all. Let's remove those word
Ryan Hardiman, Milton
The original creator of the pledge of allegiance was a Baptist minister and did not feel it was needed. Congress adopted the under God and signed by Eisenhower June 14, 1954. Congress should have kept their nose out and we would not have a problem today. For more information go to http://www.smithsonianmag.si.edu/smithsonian/issues03/nov03/presence.html. Spend more time exploring history instead of jumping on the band wagon.
Jeff Berg, South Charleston
The government want's to do away with the people's bill of right's.The man in Californa needs to take his kid out of that school and put her in a privte school.
James Totten, Madison
This is a religious matter, but also it is the United States of America, we have the freedom of religion and speech and the right to be proud of Our Pledge of Allegiance. No one should take away what which has been here for so long. The United States citizens are also so proud this Pledge of Allegiance. If people want to practice any religion that is there right. But don't take this out of our Pledge of Allegiance. After all God did make the heavens and the earth and we are a nation under God! Thanks Boone County West Virginia
Cindy Parsons, Seth
Yes the words 'under God' should still be in the Pledge of Allegiance, because its a way of saying a pledge to God. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't be here.
Aubrie McKinney, Sandyville
Don't use politics as an excuse. If there were more God (Church) and less Satan (State) this world would be a much better place; our children would know more love, grace, peace and joy!
BJ Grey, Montgomery
America is bringing destruction upon her self over omitting God out off her
Kathy justice, Oceana
I'm tired of athiests saying that their rights are being violated when children pray in school, when they say the Pledge of Allegiance, etc. What about the rights of Christians? If the athiests don't want to pray or say the words Under God, they don't have to...that's their problem and they'll have to ultimately pay for it. But put prayer back in school and leave the words under God in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Cindy Carper, Hamlin
This really gets under my skin cause without god we would not even be here and we are one nation under god.does people not understand or care that we do have a living god he is my savior.
Tonya Cummings, Procious
I feel that under God in no way is designed as a way to force people to pray or in any other way have a specific religion forced upon them However since the orgnial author of the pledge of Allegiance did not include those words, but it seems they were added in reaction to the godlessness of communisim during the beginings of the cold war, removing those words takes away nothing from being a patriotic American.
Tonya Clark, Norwak
Why should the United States bow to one man's wishes? As far as I'm concerned the US is a one nation, under God and I'm proud of it!
Barb Legg, Newton
Freedom of Religion, not from religion.
Melanie Reynolds, Milton
This nation was founded on the People's right to freedom of religion. People came to this country to be free to worship God and to escape the church of England. These people founded this country on belief in God. What they meant by the separation of church and state was that the government could not dictate a sole religion that must be followed. They never intended for God to be left out of government. This has only occurred when other people have tried to twist these words to fit their wishes. One nation under God is what this country was founded on. All religions are welcomed in this Country, but it was founded with faith in God. As with most Americans, no matter what the Supreme Court rules; One Nation under God will always be in my pledge to this great country!
Mark Fulks, CHarleston
I think the words, Under God doesnt hurt anyone. The pledge of allegiance has been said for many many years--Why change it now? Theres no reason too.You cannot change something that has been effect for years. I suggest anyone who doesnt like the pledge to just not say it.
Aime DeWees, Kenna
I believe that the words UNDER GOD should remain in the Pledge of Allegiance. This country needs God now more than ever!
Heidi Potts, Sissonville
This country was founded on Christian beliefs. It is all about the beliefs here in the United States and I don't think a handful of people that have separate beliefs than myself should over rule the other 90 percent of us that are true believers. The little girl this father is trying to protect has lead her class in the pledge with pride. I wouldn't force my religion on him and he shouldn't either, especially a child. We Christians have been quiet for too long. If we allow the pledge to be taken out of the school it will be our fault. The prayer is already gone and I take the blame for not letting our legislators know how I felt about that. They have however heard from me concerning the pledge. I think everyone needs to set the people straight, this country was founded on Christians beliefs. If we take God out of our country the whole country is going to suffer.
Sheila Ganoe, Tornado
If you take god out of everything, Then don't ask why everything is so Godless. The Devil Is winning in this country. We need to stand together to defeat him.
Jeffrey Potts, Sissonville
Let it be their perogative not to say the pledge of allegiance if they are truly offended by the word of God.
Eliza Pinzon, New York City
If Christian values and the principles in which this country was founded were instilled in more Americans, the world would not be in the shape it is in today.
Dave, Charleston
Where and when does this stop? When does the hard working and god fearing people have a say? Did this country not start with Christianity? God Bless America! If you don't believe-Leave
David Turley, Red House
What a blessed nation we are! Shame on that Californian who is making unpatriotic waves against our Pledge. No God, No Peace. But, Know God, Know Peace... May God bless us ALL!
Betty Lou Slawter, Tornado
NO.. NO.. NO..Who even says the pledge any more??
Lewis, Ripley
we as christian have much right to have under god as those thaat don\t believe in anything. i would not want to die with out jesus christ.
robert e. wilcox, flatwoods ky.
This is based on our founding fathers!
Jason, Charleston
Every religion has some form of a god, even if it's not The God of the Christian faith. If people don't want to say under God then they don't have to, but it should remain in the pledge.
Cathy Hayes, Clendenin
What has happened to the good ole' USA? After reading that a pole had been taking and 90% stated that they indeed wanted under God to remain in the Pledge of Allegiance, why are we Christians going to stand back and let the other 10% tell us what we are going to do again?! God has blessed America in many, many ways and it is time for us to take our stand for HIM. Without God, you have nothing!
Cheri Sowards, Hurricane
The problem with this country today is that we have taken God out of everything. We need to keep the pledge the way it is now. Just as with the Ten Commandments in schools controversary, the majority of citizens want God in schools. The majority should rule. I think we should have a special election for this. Let the all the people speak, not just the ones against God. Christians need to speak out. And this man who is sueing the school doesn't even have legal custody of his child. Thank goodness her Mother is raising her with Christian values.
Shonda Newsome, South Charleston
Absolutely, GOD is printed on our money and is the basis behind the foundation of this country.
Chuck Adams, Chapmanville
What about the rights of The many Americans that know that the truth is our country was founded on the beleif in God ! I am appalled Bet he doesn't mind spending our countrys currency that says In God We Trust! It makes me ill that they have all the rights the peoples voice means nothing !
Karen Davis, Whitesville
I cannot understand. After all, didn't God create this world and everything in it? Is this nation not under God anymore?
Darlene Pierce, Wayne
Leave us all alone we don't need all these changes and taking God out of everything that has always meant so much. It is all so sad.
Sue Maynor, Charleston
I think that it should remain the same because it would make no sese if was different.
Natasha Turzinski, Stevens Point
Our Country was founded on God without God our Country is nothing. All of those who wishes for God to be out of their lives there is without a doubt plenty of countrys as well as hell that wants them.
Sharon, Charleston
I don't understand why they want to take it out. I will always say it no matter what. Then the next thing that they think should go is the phase In God We Trust on our money. Where does it end?
Chris Ryan, Sissonville
Absolutely! God is the only reason that this country started out in good shape, the leaders then had the guts to not only believe in God... but to also TALK about God and realize that they NEEDED God to help them to if they wanted to successfully lead the nation!
Jackie Brumfield, Barboursville
This just makes me sick thinking that they are trying to take God out of everything.
Tiffany, Griffithsville
Why do we insist on letting those in the minority push the majority around. Messing with the pledge sends the wrong signal to our children and other countries. This type of senseless bickering is what has made us such an easy target for critiques and our enemies.
Charles Kevin Hess, Cannelton
That is what our constitution was founded on!
Cheryl, South Charleston
This country was founded on Biblical morals. For the previlige of living in this country, people should at least respect this, even though they may not agree with it.
Margaret Davis, Sutton
I believe that this is one of the problems we have with the youths today, religion has been taken out of most schools. I remember going to school and the first thing every day was Prayer, then the Pledge of Allegiance.
Lagenia Hensley, Chesapeake, Ohio
What would you gain by removing two words? Do the atheists think this is something that they can do all of the time? they never let up: if its not crosses on war memorials its nativity scenes at Christmas. If anybodys right are being violated, it the christians who have to put up with all this nonsense.
Jordan Richardson, Nitro
Without reservation!
L. Gray, Waldorf, MD
Absolutely. We should not let one person ruin our freedoms that we have kept for so long. We should sue that athiest for violating the rights of millions to worhsip freely!
Laura Humphreys, Charleston
After prayer was taken out of schools, schools were flooded with drugs, teenage pregnancy, alcholics, and now school shootings. When are we going to wise up and invite God back into schools?!
Renae S. Cox, Dunkirk
No one is twisting your arm to say the words Under God. If it bothers him so much, just refrain from saying the pledge. By the way...he should also consider relinquishing all of his money too...each piece of our currency proudly states In God We trust.
Laurie Shultis, Spencer
Yes i believe that it should stay, it is a part of our country, it is a part of our nation. If we didnt have god who would we have.
Kathryn, Sumerco
This would have never been an issue in the days following 9-11. Because we as a nation had taken GOD out of our daily life, HE reminded us HE'S still in control. What will HE do next to get our attention?
Keith Lewis, Belle
Leave it alone just keep there damm hands off of it
Kevin Sowell, Gastonia
What is this world comming to, We are under God and the Great mighty king is comming soon, i say if you want to pray in school or where ever than let it be so, and if you dont like our under God then go some where else that you dont have to hear it.
Rose, Charleston
Yes the words under God should remain in the pledge of allegiance. My allegiance I give to God every day of my life.
Bobby Jarrell, Baltimore Maryland
This Country was founded on God. Let's not forget that.
Dawna Vance, Hurricance
I have no problem with those words remaining, my only problem would be if the children were REQUIRED to say them. My son says the pledge every morning, with those words, however, if he or any other child would decide they didn't want to say part or all of the pledge, then they should have that freedom of choice.
Elizabeth A. Gibson, Hurricane
created by our fore fathers in constitution against tyranny from british rule, freedom to form our own goverment and freedom of religion.
Julius vierstra, northbridge
This country was founded under God. I know we took this country away from others and we claimed it as ours, but the leaders of the rebellion chose to claim this as a democracy where the majority rules. One person cannot take away what millions want to keep no matter what!
Judith Skidmore, Elkview
Yes it has been there for many years and America is God's land and we should praise him everyday
Tyler Evans, Charleston
The words 'under God' have been in the Pledge for so long and just because some athist who doesn't even have custity over his daughter, wants it to changen does not mesn it should.
Amanda Simons, Nallen
This nation has a poor memory. It was founded on biblical principals and understood that it was a blessed nation and our forefathers also understood that the key to this nations success was from worshipping the true God. We have also forgotten that schools were started by the church where the 3 R's and the bible were taught so that all could have solid footing. This is why the nation has been so successful. It has not been through mans work. To remove under God would be against all founding principals of our nation. It would lead to further deterioration and moral decay and I believe, one step closer to nation on the brink of disaster.
Gary Casto, Kenna
This man may not believe in God yet there are those who will call on him in a time of severe need. This country was founded on the right to serve God, our creater, in any way we desire and believe. Under God should stay the way it is because without God this country would not be the land of the free! Besides when we say the pledge of Alliegence it is to Honor these United States of America and those who have died to protect us and our beliefs.
Diana F. Williams, Charleston
Leave tradition alone!
Dwaine, S Charleston
It is a part of our pledge, what we as a country believe in. I don't go to chuch much. Actually haven't went in a long time but i know when prayer was taken out of schools, all kinds of problems started. Take under God out of our pledge of alligiance, who knows what will happen.
Vanessa Roach, Red House
if they don't believe Under God then they shouldn't have to say the pledge of allegiance. There are some people that do believe, so why are we ALWAYS changing for those who don't believe. We who believe have rights to!
Anita Matics, Handley
I, for one, will continue to include the phrase, under God, when I say the Pledge. However, I respect the separation of church and state, and the religious affiliation of all citizens, and therefore must agree that the phrase should be omitted in public schools. It saddens me to see it go, but it is the right thing to do. Respectfully, from Iraq.
Nolan Kelley, Morgantown
If they take out God, what will be next???
Freda Little, Charleston
We should remember why God created us all and why He died. We should ask what can we do for God? People that leave God out of everything will in the end reap what the sow. that is my thinking. God has Blest America, we still have freedom and rights. Our soliders fought for freedom. It's time to wake up and stand up for God. The Word says in the beginning was God. He is the way the truth and Life is in Him.
JoAnn Fetty, Pomeroy,Ohio
I wish stupid people would get a hobby and stop trying to change everything in this FREE country. If you don't want to say under God then don't but let those of us who still believe in God be FREE to say what WE want.
Angie, Chapmanville
I am not a Christian, but I do believe in God and without him we would not be a nation. Without Him we would not be on this Earth today.
Betty White, Danville
I believe the Pledge should be read as it was originally written.
John, Knott
The words under God is a statement that makes me feel safe, showing that we acknowledge God as maker of all things, and that we are not ashamed of him.
Stanley R. Adkins, lake wv.
Let the few big mouthed, right wing satan worshipers move to Iraq or somewhere that wasn't established under God. Leave all the normal people alone
Billy Hinamon, Charleston
i know it under god should stay in the pledge. if people do not believe in god then just dont say that part. and the court system that awarded the man money over that was just plain stupid.
Kathy, Spencer
This country was founded and built by the grace of God. Why people want to take those specific words out of the Pledge of Allegiance is beyond me. The people who are against saying under God do have their rights but so do I and I believe that the Pledge of Allegiance should stay the same.
Jason Connett, Proctorville Ohio
I feel the words under God should remain in the Pledge of Allegiance. If a child doesn't want to say the pledge then they shouldn't if that is not their belief, but to take it out the answer is NO cause to me this is one nation under God !
Denise, Hurricane
Yes... Even though we as a country do not live under God.
J. Pitchford, Eleanor
The pledge should have Gods name in it, due to the fact that we are one nation and under God, the wonderful people in our history gave their lives for this belief, I would hate that thier deaths would have been in vain.
Kathleen Milam, Winfield, WV
Because the nation is under god!
Andrew Arthur, Orma
The ACLU and its cohorts are an enemy more dangerous than Al-quida.
Karl, Poca
If it was not for GOD we would net even be here. So we are a Nation Under God! If people don't wnat there children saying it then tell them not too but my children will! No matter what the sumpreme court says.
Stacey, Elkview
By taking the words under God out of the Pledge of Allegiance it is taking away free speech from the author. The author wrote the words and they should stay. If you don't want it there, then don't say the words. But don't take it away from others. Do not take away our freedom to have under God in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Kathleen, Charleston
God is being removed from literally every aspect of our society. This is just another ploy of the enemy (Satan) to get people to forget about God. The day we take under God from our pledge will be the day I lose all respect for our country - God help us all!
Derek Henson, Saint Albans
Anyone who has a problem can choose not to say it!
Jennifer Bowser, Athens
I feel that the words `Under God` should remain under the Pledge of Allegiance bc. though it may not be constitutionally right it's what we have said for years and what most believe!I beleive that w/out God we may not even have a constitution,he put us here and gave us the oppurtunity to make the constituition and to live life.
Veronica, Elkview
It's Good and God is what this world is all about, without GOD where would we be Now! Thank God for His Love.
Joyce Putman, Union
The pledge has always been under God, I don't think it should be taken out. These people are going to burn in hell for what they are doing to us and our children. It's as if us christians don't have a say in any thing any more.
Sandy Legg, St Albans
Of course, that is what is wrong with this nation today. Everybody wants to take God out of everything.
Smith, Barboursville
Why can't the atheists of the world just not speak those two words when they say the pledge of Allegiance? Why are we always catering to every person who is offended by our beliefs, policies, and ect? It seems most of the people who are offended are almost always the minority. I thought we lived in a democracy???
Kim Arden, South Charleston
What a no brainer question! Give the atheist's daughter a set of ear plugs to use during the pledge of Allegiance and save us millions of dollars in unnecessary expenses.
Charley Waitkus, Beckley
Instead of worrying about the word God in the pledge they need to worry about the more important stuff. The word God is not hurting anyone...if they don't like it, don't say it.
Ashley, Charleston
Our country was founded on religious principals. We are a nation UNDER GOD and we should be. If the atheist can't accept this their are not quality Americans and should not have American rights.
J. R. Dumire, South Charleston2
If you dont believe it, dont say it!
Kathy, Belle
The words under god were inserted into the pledge in the 50's to thwart the idealology of communism. The cold war is over, n'est pas?
Bob, New Haven
There are more christians than atheist in this country, the majority should win in this case.
Michelle Wilson, Huntington
Get a life people. Children are not required to say the pledge! The only thing that was required when I was in school was to stand. You didn't even have to say it if you didn't want to. There are more important issues that should be in the courts. All you hear about anymore are these BS frivolous lawsuits! You can't do anything anymore for fear of being sued for some reason or another! GET A LIFE!
N. Fortin, Alum Creek
Our founding fathers had wisdom beyond their time when they decided how our government would be set up. They knew that certain rights needed to be secured. They knew what they were doing when they planned our government. Our country was founded on the principle that God was our leader. If you don't like what our country stands for, then go somewhere else!
Laura Allen, Frametown
As soon as we Turn our back on God he may turn his back on us!
Scott, Summersville
Something is terribly wrong with America when our supreme court is siding with the atheist. This is something that effects everyone and should be taken to the polls so all voices can be heard by allowing us to vote on it and let the majority rule.
Carolyn Prete, Montgomery
As I recall, the preamble to our Constitution, says one nation under God, indivisible and with justice and liberty for all. This has worked for over 200 years and why should it be changed because of radicals like Maureen O'Hara. Oh Yes, I firmly believe each individual has the right to feel and express their own opinions but do not try and force those opinions on the majority.
Harold Spangler, Charleston
The Pledge should not be changed. It was changed in the '50s, adding under God for a reason, and we need to remember the grace God has given us in our building of a free nation.
Bill Stephens, Charleston
I think we should talk about the former Court House (now the Public Library) where it ends the date with, Ano Domini year of our Lord and on both sides of our state Capitol where it has a Bible verse over both main entrances. I think we should talk about those type of things before we talk about something that was only started a half a century ago and act as if that was when religion entered our country.
Rob Amos, Charleston
This nation was founded on Christianity and Christianity should always be it's foundation!
Jeff, Charleston
Our country was founded under God and it should stay that way. On another subject. Could you please tell me how to contact Jack Whittaker on a very important matter. Please dont tell me at the Pink Pony. I am very serious. I would only pray that he could and would help me the way he has helped so many other people in need as I am. Please let me know how to reach him. God Bless Him.
Sherry Lazar, McKeesport,Pennsylvania
They can take God out of our public schools, but in the end God will be the one to prevail.
Kristie, Fairplane
I think it is very important that 'under God' not be taking out of the pledge of allegiance. I said it all through school and students have the right not to join in saying it and I feel that taking it away is just the beginning of our rights being taken.
Emily Meadows, Charleston
Of course under God should remain in the Pledge. Although this nation takes it for granted, it IS under God. May He have mercy on us.
Miranda Adkins, Flatwoods
God was here first!
Lisa, Hurricane
Some people have forgotten the fact that we were founded on the belief in God as the one and only Supreme Being and that many men and women have given their lives to uphold that belief.
Connie Sue Nutter, Glen Jean
The problem is too many are not realizing the ramifications of leaving God out of life. Wise up
Cathy Davey, Scott Depot
i think that we should leave under god in the pledge of Allegiance. Bc someone wants to throw a fit about it. I got one thing to tell that calfornia guy is to get over it. Its done and nothing else u can do about.
Gregory Marcum, Ripley
Jefferson wrote, seperation of Chuch and State meant that the church could not run the government as it did in England. This stuff is so stupid and the courts agree. they should read the Consttition as is was meant to be, not what a anthist thinks is means..
Stephen Earl, Huntington, WV
When this country was founded it was done so under God. Since the ones protesting don't agree with what we were founded on then they should find a country that agrees with their beliefs and move to that country.
Lucena Overbaugh, Richwood
One atheist should not be able to dictate a change in the wording of the pledge of allegiance spoken daily by millions of God fearing Americans. America's founding fathers believed in God. You only need to read a dollar bill to see that there is no definitive seperation of church and state.
Robert Kardos, Nitro
Our country is based on the Christian belief. If the non-believers don't like it they can remain quiet while the majority want to honor our country and our God. No one is forcing them to say it. Do these people who want to ban it really love america? Where is there loylty? I think it is about time Christians stand up and be heard.
Denise, Ripley
I might have a unique perspective on this. I'm a 1st degree Correllian witch. I used to consider my self athiest (before I found Wicca). In my opinion, the pledge is appropriate, as it's a pledge to our great country, and even though the words might not seem appropriate in our age, it wasn't written in our age. It's as timeless as any of the documents that came from our country's beginnings, and as such should be left alone.
Rev. Mark S. Robinson, Dixie
The government is not establishing a state-run religion simply by having the words under God in a pledge which no one is forced to say!
Janice Keeter, Weston
Not everyone believes in god. So why should others feel uncomforatable being the minority.
Tim, Newburyport, MA
That is what is wrong with the country today. We are removing God from everything. It's time the country stood up and put God back in everything.
Ann Summers, Belle
Absolutely
Carl Hill, Saint Albans
I am glad that I am not the man who wants to remove God from our children's vocabulary, as well as the Judges who make it profitable for him to do so.
Tracy, Nitro
We need almighty God to lead us. Many years ago our leaders of the country felt that In God We Trust should be placed on our currency. Is it still there? Why should we omit it from the pledge? God is, or should be, important in all aspects of life. I, for one, will not leave him out.
Tina Riley, Spencer
Our forfathers built this country as a place for freedom of religion, by saying under god means that you dont have to be talking about the christian god, but you could refer to the muslim and morman god as well. just because people complain about the littlest most insignifigant things doesnt mean we have to jump up and change everything.
Chris, Cross Lanes
This country was founded on individualism, freedom and liberty. It was founded on the premise that man is a heroic and wonderful being, to say that this country is also 'under God' is a blatant contridiction to this. There is no freedom or liberty in christianity or any other christian religion. If it is not taken out, it will eat this country from the core.
Andrew James Sapp, Beverly
God has blessed America , more than any place on earth. Now we are trying to pay him back with deleting him from all that we stand for and believe in.It`s just another sign, that America is destroying it`s self. The E.U. will soon be taking our place as a super power.I just pray to God,that he will have mercy on us.
S.Buzz, Nitro
This country was founded on freedom of religion. I believe that one person should NOT be able to force their beliefs on others, which is what is happening with the atheist in California. The judge was wrong in making the decision he did because it clearly went against what 98 % of the people believe in.
David Nelson, Belle
It has been in there all this time why remove it? I think it is ridiculous he won that law suit. The person must be racist to not want that in the Pledge of Allegiance. He needs to be reminded he is in America! Naybe he needs to go back to the country he is from and take is daughter out of a PUBLIC school. I think he should be sued back the amount of money he won for no reason. It's never been a concern before.
Andy, Charleston
Why should everyone have to change for one person.
Tim Shanks, Saint Marys
I don't think anything should be changed. That is the way it was written in the first place. We can't go around taking God out of everything. If we take God out of our lives he will not want to help us when we need him most.
Mary, Reidsville
Absolutely. How much longer do we stand by and let these infidels destroy our country?????
Evelyne Mclaughlin, Procious
As Billy Graham's daughter stated, look what has happened to us, our children, our nation, as we have progressively removed God from schools, etc.
Glenna, Lavalette
The foundation of this country was built on the premise of God in our lives and the very reason this nation has flourished to become what it has. I'm sure he doesn't have a problem spending american money that has In God we Trust on it.
Dawn, Charleston
Regardless of religious faith, non-religious belief or your personal philosophy, the pledge of Allegiance something that should remain as is. In this case, the individual may omit the offensive phrase or not participate in the pledge at all.
Ron Eddy, Charleston
i think that taking under god out of the pledge is a sin against god and those who don't like it should think what might happen if they do this it is like taking away all religion from the whole world i think it should stay.
Brandi Ashby, hurricane
Enough Said!
Clayton Young Jr, Cedar Grove
I definately believe Under God should stay in our pledge. Our country was founded on God and the principles of the Bible. Our country's strong belief in God is what sets us apart from the rest of the world and God is the reason we have been blessed above all other country's. I believe that when we start taking God out of our lives and our country that is when all the blessings will stop.
Beverly, Genoa in wayne county
Our country was founded on the beliefs of god our lord and master. i dont think childern should be forced to say the pledge of alegence but i do think they should be able to say it if they want to just the way it was written
ralph mobley, charleston
This nation was built on in god we trust...and it should stay on all of our nations stuff and in the schools
George Foster, Dorothy
God is who made us not amyone else and this nation is under God.
Tammy Brewer, Chapmanville
Yes. This country was founded on the premises that we honor our country and the freedoms that this country brings. Without God's help we as Americans would not be where we are today. It is scary to think where this nation is headed without having some moral boundaries that the Bible has set up. Keeping our eyes focused on God and His Word helps to remind us that it is not about me or us and self satisfaction. It is about self control and God gives us His rules. Just as we are given rules to live by in this nation. Remember that it is all about Him.
Cheryl Brooks, Athens
Our forefathers had the right idea, why should we mess with a good thing?
Chuck Wise, Ravenswood
Who has the problem with the Pledge, the daughter or the father? If they are so concerned with saying under GOD in the Pledge, allow him or her to leave the class room until the rest of the class has said the Pledge! May GODS Peace be with us all...
Mr. Jamie Zifilippo, Cross Lanes
Because God put us on this earth and I love him
Tammy Heflin, Milford
No matter what people will try to do to take God out of ANYTHING they may succeed on paper, but the truth is it will remain in our hearts and He (God) is and will always be.
Evangeline Salas, Chaparral
Yes it should be in the pledge og alegence it is part of our history it would be like taking the constitution from the textbooks.
Nathan Hale, Huntington
it should be up to the people whether they want to say those words. if they dont want to then dont say them. there is no reason for us to change something that has been around so long because someone has a problems with two words. I think we have bigger problems then the words under God.
Nicole Taylor, Charleston
Under God is what our country was based on. It is our history and heritage to pass on to our children.
Robin Hodge, Ripley
