Question of the Day
EYEWITNESS NEWS QUESTION OF THE DAY RESPONSE

Have you changed your habits due to the flu outbreaks this season?

47% Yes:
Yes Votes
53% No:
No Votes

A SAMPLING OF YOUR RESPONSES:

I have not changed any of my habits because of the flu. I simply took my usual flu shot, and try to avoid people.
Mark Fulks, Charleston

We, as a society, need better handwashing techiques and to take the time for proper handwashing to prevent the spread of germs.
Paula Kelly, Looneyville

We didn't know it was that bad until the flu shots were all gone. I think children and old people should have gotten it FIRST. Not Dr's and nurses.
Mel, Kenna

Oh yes the flu outbreak has changed my habits. i couldn't help but notice in several places that serve food that the staff used the same nasty rag and the little white pail to wipe off the tables. this is disquesting anytime but to spread germs like that is even worse. The health dept. in Kanawha co must not have time to look in to things like that where they have to look for smokers. don't believe me just look around the next time you dining out!
Larry, Cabin Creek

I have always gotten flu shots, avoided heavily crowded areas during flu season and washed my hands frequently. There isn't much more to be done -- unless we are to become a nation of hermits.
Shelby, California

I observe the 15 second handwashing recommendation with WARM soapy water often.
Charlotte Flanagan, Charleston

I wash my hands all of the time.
Sandra Hazlett, Scott Depot

Oh yes indeed. I have purchased antibacterial wipes to wipe on the buggy at Walmart and to open the doors to get milk. I have bought antibacterial hand sanitizer and me and the kids use it whenever we go out. It has helped alot and not to mention avoiding big crowds and using alot of Lysol Spray. And with all of this and a alot of prayer and trusting in the good Lord, sure works out pretty good.
S. Jude, Mingo County

I wear my jacket and gloves more often outdoors. I don't go to crowded places anymore. I warm up the truck before going to work, so the heater heats up the truck quicker.
Bubba, Hurricane

I know my husband, son, and I have all changed our habits in fear of getting the flu. I bought the travel baby wipes and put them in every car we have. Now when we come out of the store the 1st thing we all do is clean our hands with them. We also have been staying away from crowded areas of the stores and going to them after the crowds have subsided.
Paula, Williamson

I didn't even get a shot. Every time a disease hits the middle or upper class, they become an epidemic! Take SARS for example, it's not even a fraction of what TB does every year, yet TBs not an 'epidemic'.
Ambur, Las Vegas

I have a chronic child with lung problems and i try to stay away from others. You never when you will know when you will come upon someone sick.
Terry, Nellis

No, not really. I'm just a little more diligent about using more disinfectant when cleaning.
Diane Rickman, Beckley

I don't shake as many hands these days.
Steve warren, Wayne

1.) Stay home and out of public areas as much as possible. 2.) Do Bible study instead of going to church until the flu season is over. 3.) Don't plan to invite dinner guest until the flu season is over. 4.) Eat more Vitamin C. 5.) Use hand gel in car and in public areas when we are out.
Annette Upton, Augusta

I work at a pre-school and we are taking more time in washing hands and wiping the tables off with disinfectant. My brother in law sneezed into his hands and I told him that he needed to wash immediately and he agreed.
Carol Garlow, Poca

I didn't wash my hands before flu season and I don't wash them now!
D. Cidila, Poca

Stay away from crowded areas. Eat healthy Drink lots of fluids.
Tilly, Sydney Nova Scotia, Canada

I have four children, three of them in school. I continue to teach them to wash their hands often as we do but we have already had it twice this year and I fear it isn't over yet. As a matter of fact one of my school aged children was up all night sick again but I don't yet know if it is the flu.
Eva Crockett, Eleanor

I just go on with my normal lifestyle. I do however try to avoid contact with others who have the flu or have had it within the last week to week and a half.
Kent Smith, Letart

I wash my hands every chance I get!
Jennifer, Sissonville

I am 8 1/2 mo. pregnant with my first child. My doctor said the flu vaccine this year would have no effect on me if I would receive it. He only cautioned me to watch who I came in contact with, and to wash my hands more frequently. I work in the public and with my doctors advice I have not gotten down with the flu. Washing my hands more often was the only thing I really changed in trying not to get the flu.
Amy Jenkins, Gassaway

The whole family has, washing our hands more and just paying more attention to the people around us
Mia Ramsey, Ripley

I think that it is a good idea to change you habits due to the out break of the flu.
Bailey, Sissonville

Do not use public restrooms wash my hands even more than before
Ann, Eleanor

Ive aways washed my hands . But my daughter thats something all together different with school and the activitties shes in.
Don Halliwill, Hurricane

To me the flu is just something outhere that mankind has to be ready for most illnesses and I think that the flu has been well taken care of so when you ask me have I changed my day to day habits I say no.
Shawn Buckner, Uneeda

I got my flu shot early November, but wash my hands at every opportunity as an added prevention precaution.
Kim Rock, Charleston

At church when we have greetings, I am not shaking hands with anybody. not at church or in public. I have always been really cautious in restrooms with the doors. I carry some of that hand sanitizer. Also I think that if people try harder that the germs would not be spread so easily.
Cheryl, Gallipolis, Oh

We both take vitamin c. I believe thats important and to eat more garlic.
Carolyn Mcpherson, Portland, Ohio

No. Paranoia will destroy - ya -
Virginia, Chehalis

I have never taken a flu shot, with this new strain it was no different. I can't see hiding behind closed doors, I continue to go and do what I need to.
Darlene Killen, Dawson

I have because I watch want I do before I can get a flu.
Sondra Stump, Oak Hill
