A SAMPLING OF YOUR RESPONSES:

Will definitely be changing... found much lower prices!
Sunny, Tornado
I had to find other means of shopping, and I am very satisfied. They didn't care for our needs, why should we give them our business back!
Eddie, Madison
I never shopped at Krogers anyway. I didn't care if they ever opened again.
Jamie, Kenna
I'm glad Kroger's is back. I have nothing against the employees who were on strike. After all, they only wanted better health insurance.
Tom Light, Dunbar, WV
Kroger does offer more products I enjoy than those store left available during the strike. Returning to the stores to shop will also show support for the battle they worker waged.
John, South Charleston
I like the variety that Krogers have, but we do shop at Aldi's and Save A Lot too. Sometime we go to Foodland, end of Jefferson Road.
Joe A Redd, Spring Hill
I will be heading back to Kroger.
George Mullins, Cottageville, WV
No, my wife and I shop at Sav-A-Lot. Kroger is just a spur of the moment store for us when we don't feel like driving to Cedar Grove.
Johnson, Belle
The reason is we will not be able to afford Krogers higher prices.plus i really never shoped there much.we have some good local stores in are area that need are local support.
Pamela Todorovich, Oak Hill
I will no longer support Krogers. They didnt care about us when they was on strike. They only thought about themselves.
MN, Charleston
No I don't believe I will. They closed the local store here in Pomeroy and I don't think that was quite right. There is not an overabundance in jobs around here anyhow and this won't really help things any.
Angie, Rutland
There is no other store closer than Kroger around this area, we have no choice.but it sucks
Kim Stanley, Huntington
My wife was on the strike line, and she was not totally pleased with the new contract, but it was better tha the first proposal. We live in Ripley, and Kroger's was closed, we could not shop after 9 0'clock because the other stores closed. Like many others, we enjoy shopping later in the evening. The fight for proper health care will rage on througout the U.S. We think we helped. Sincerly, Jim
Jim Rhodes, Ripley
Kroger employees did what they had to do to keep their benefits. I still like Kroger as a grocery store. No one can touch their quality of produce and variety and freshness on such items as eggs and milk. I will continue to patronize them. WalMart and others took advantage of the public and raised their prices on many items and also cut the selection of items and even put limits on certain items, such as United milk, at their stores. Too much control by one food chain! Kroger helps to keep them in line with lower prices and better variety and keeps them on their toes when it comes to quality. WalMart's produce was getting pretty bad by the end of the strike.
Margaret C., Hurricane, WV
The workers were selfish on the health care cost. I am glad many of them have it, however there are MANY who have none and would be GLAD to pay a certain amount for health care like we ALL do!
Tim Brown, St. Albans
I will go back to Kroger and maybe now that Kroger is back fas chek, walmart and these other stores will lower there prices
Mark Totten, Belle
I will continue to patronize the Kroger in So. Charleston occasionally just to keep a local store and buy a few items, but I will mainly patronize Foodland due to discovering much friendlier service, even under dire circumstances of so many more customers during Kroger's strike. I don't like having to stand guard over Kroger. They mess with the prices of their grocery items by not matching the prices on the shelves of the items with the prices that the cash registers reveal when the items are scanned. It has happened to me too many times, and they always claim it to be a fluke. Yeah right.
Tammy, So. Charleston
I think Kroger has always had high prices and I just wonder now if they will try to raise prices more to compensate for the lost profit over the last 2 months.
Deb, Oak Hill
Do we have a lot of choice? Lots of people here have no transportation and can't pick and choose. I liked big bear because it was close. Krogers is great and (as opposed to Wal-Mart) most of our money stays in West Virginia. I will not shop at Wal-Mart ever
Terry Brenan, Charleston
They say that the Kroger Corperation is being greedy in this situation, but it is the employees that are being greedy. It is really sad that most people work for less money than what the Kroger employees do but you don't see any of them going on strike and then whining about not getting any money for something they could have avoided. Now that the strike is over I won't spend another dime in Kroger's. What is going to happen is that Kroger's will be phased out and replaced by another chain but no one thought of that when they were sitting at home on strike...
Billy Amick, Summersville
I don't think any grocery store around even compares to the quality of Krogers, I can't wait for them to open back up.
Mary Dorsey, Clay
I'm ecstatic the store is reopening, I refuse to shop anywhere else.
Robin Hale
No, because Krogers was a good store but they put alot of people a long way away from stores and people have found better i am pissed.
Bill Hupperstean, Scott Depot
I'll go back to Kroger. I like the service, I like the people who work there. I've missed both while our store has been closed.
B. R. M., Logan
Found better shopping elswhere.
Ron, St Albans
Good Folks, this is so poorly worded it's difficult to know just what you intend. First, you asked Will you be returning (to Kroger's) -- and my answer is YES. BUT then just as you offer the yes/no hot buttons, you reverse the question: Will you be changing your previous shopping habits? I'd answer NO, I'm returning to my old Kroger's store. (Of course, I'm not 100% what you mean by previous -- previous to the ending of the strike? If so, then YES, I'll quit using other groceries and return to Kroger's.) Why didn't you just ask, Will you be returning to Kroger's -- yes or no? How tough would that have been?
G. Scott Nunley, Ashland
I'll be returning because it's only one of two stored in Hinton, WV. The other is a Sav-A-Lot that pretty much sucks!
Chris Hopson, Hinton
The only reason people shop at the Kroger stores is because of convenience of where it is located. Not because they give a rats butt about the store! Which ever store is the closest to me...that's where I shop.
Bea, St. Albans
I quit shopping at Krogers when I was required to carry a card in order to recieve the sale price. Until that policy is dropped, I will continue to shop at Foodland,Aldi.
Glenn Colby
No Way! Kroger is the best around and I never went into the store when the strike was in progress and I respect most of the employees over there. Oh yeah their deli is pretty good too.
Nick Kemp, Pricneton
First of all, your question was worded poorly. It should have read, Will you return to the Kroger stores now that they are reopening? I couldnt figure out if changing of previous shopping habits meant returning to Kroger or continuing to shop at the same place I have for the last couple of months. Regardless, I think people should boycott Kroger. Shop at Wal-Mart instead. I havent shopped at Kroger since they forced customers to carry cards on their keychains or be forced to pay higher prices for products.
Joe McMillin, Parkersburg
They left me. Now I will not go back to Kroger. I love the store but the employees have no clue.
Robert Zopp, Elkview
Ambiguous question: changing from the habits I had before, or during strike? I used to shop at Kroger once a month or more. Will again do that. (Shopped at Big Bear 2-3 times per year. Can't do that now.)
Mary Beheler, Ona
They closed the two stores in our area. I think they should of let some of the people know this is a drastict change and will create hardships for the consumers as well as the former employees. to some of us Krogers wasa family tradition shopping over 35 yrs. there.Their decision stinks!
R.Fetty, Pomeroy
No way!! The other stores are way too expensive. As a matter of fact, Kroger reopened today and I bought my groceries there this evening. I am glad to see them open again. I do feel the employees had a right to stand up for what was fair. I am glad that Kroger decided to give them a little bit more. Welcome back Kroger!
Karen, Charleston
Kroger is the best store out there and I am so happy they are back opened cause my father works at the one on Harper Road in Beckley. I just wish there was a Kroger in the town of Summersville where I live. People around here really miss and loved that store. Some even go to the Kroger in Oak Hill just to shop there.
Lauren Walton, Summersville
I am so glad that Kroger at Marmet is open again. It sure is nice to see the same faces in the store again.
Debbie, Bloomingrose
I buy certain items at different stores and even though I missed those items from Krogers...and will shop there again, however I will continue to shop at the other locally owned stores in the Valley. I think it was great that locally owned stores got a boost in business and hope they retain some of the new customers!
Christie, Hurricane
When the negotiations were being conducted, did Krogers ever consider the customer(s) and their options if there was a work stoppage ?? How did the elderly and disabled get their food supply ?? Is the Company going to offer some incentitive(s) to attract the customer(s) back to their store(s) ??
James and Teresa Aucremanne, South Charleston, WV
However I do not agree with the Kroger employees diesision to strike. I do not believe that the person bagging my groceries should make more money than myself with a college degree.
Cathy, Elkview
It really aggrivated me to have to go out of my way to purchase groceries. Kroger has lost my business, I found a better value elsewhere.
D Reece, Dunbar
Kroger has always been over priced and they are typical Big business that looks out for #1.
James Husk, Five Forks
I am sick of this 2 strikes in a short amount of time I have only lived here a little over 6 yrs and this is the second strike Krogers has had good riddance to the union
Dan, St Albans
I will stay at Foodland
Mona Hudson, St. Albans
I will be running, not walking back to my Kroger store. I tried all of the alternatives, but there is just no place like Kroger's. The employees seem like friends. They are people I feel that I know.
Elaine Anderson, Charleston
I will not be going back to Kroger's stores grocery shopping.
Kenny, Nitro
I'm glad that Kroger has reopened, now all of the fair weather customers can go back to Kroger. I have always preferred Foodland's lower prices and their service.
Mark Fulks, Charleston
Kroger and it's workers showed how little they really care about the customer and I will be using other stores and the internet to obtain my groceries.
Chris Durrenberger, Hurricane
I was pleased with the competitor.s prices and product.s, and after speaking to a few of the returning Kroger.s employee.s i realized that there going back to work but there not happy about it.
Steve B, Elkview
Prices at Kroger stores are higher than other grocery stores. It was more of a convenience to stop and get what you needed. During the strike, there was no choice about it. You had to go somewhere else. During the course of the strike, we actually saved more money that can be better used. Now that the strike is over, our money will go where it has during the strike....everywhere else.
JT, Gallipolis Ferry
That Kroger's has reopned is nothing special. The only thing I ever buy from there is Rolling Stone magazine and the occasional DVD I can't be bothered driving 50 miles to get. It's nice to see the strikers out of the weather and out of that...uhh...terrible, well set-out camper van at the front of the store. Still, anything is better than seeing them picket for higher wages and insurance benefits and still be paid for it.
Dave R, Duck
Question is does Kroger owners deserve our business/money being that they dont even care about their employees? I am not a Kroger employee nor do I have family that is employed with Kroger. Kroger is no longer for me.
Cheryl, Saint Albans
I have found the Foodland on Spring Street to have most everything I shop for. I may still go to Kroger's for some speciality things but only for those.
Harold Spangler, Charleston
I will continue to shop at Walmart and not shop at Krogers.
Jennifer Casto, Clendenin
The prices will be up to compensate for the strike and we just can't aford the higher prices and we can't go anymore out of our way to shop at that store since they are not reopening the gauley bridge store.
S. Mullins, Dixie
Kroger has, by far, the best selection around and very competative prices. I'm glad a resolution was reached. Big Company needs to stop being so greedy!!
Allison Paraschos, Huntington
Nope thanks to too many taxes and too few jobs all i can do is SAVE- A - LOT
Larry, Cabin Creek WV
I'm so glad Kroger reopened. they carry some items that other stores don't. plus you don't have to wait in the long lines like you do at wal-mart.
diane rickman, beckley
I can't wait til they reopen !!
Karen Davis, Whitesville
We support the union
Teresa Chapman, Sylvester
No. Kroger was and still is way too expensive. If I did my regular shopping at Kroger, I would spend at least two times the amount I'd spend at Walmart.
Tiant L. Stokes, Hurricane
After what they did in charleston and now this!
Roger Shepherd, Chesapeake
I'm thrilled that they have reached an agreement and have re-opened their doors, I have already been back to Kroger for my grocery shopping and plan to continue shopping there as long as they remain open!
Sheila Powell, Ravenswood
I have always varied my shopping. I look for the better prices, convenience, and value. If I do shop at Kroger, I shop in Dunbar where I live as it is convenient.
Susanne T, Dunbar
I will be changing my shopping habits because Kroger closed my store. I live in Gauley Bridge and will miss Kroger very much. It will be very inconvenient now that it is gone and will make an economic impact on our small community.
Phillip Fout, Gauley Bridge
Will I change my habits? No. I never liked Kroger. Your question is very ambiguous. If I select Yes, you'll think that I shopped at Kroger before and will be changing to shop somewhere else. If I select No, you'll think that I shopped at Kroger before and that I'll be going back. When in reality, I never like Kroger, and I won't be shopping there in the future.
Eric, Ona
There's no place like Krogers.
Eva Riffle, Burnsville
Krogers is a great store. I'm glad they have won labor back with the things they need. I will suport Krogers!
John Hereford, Huntington
Lets go Krogering, I can't stand any of the other grocery stores in Beckley, Most of them close by 9pm, Krogers is open all the time. I am a little upset about the employees striking. If your not happy with what your job is paying you, find another one!
E, beckley
Wal-mart may be an extra 30 miles, but it more than makes up for it with the price difference.
Chris Thomas, Gauley Bridge
I used to frequent Krogers, because there are somethings that you can't find at other stores. Now however, I will just do without. My grudge is not with the company. I don't believe it is fair that I, as a taxpayer, had to pay the Kroger employees to walk the picket line. Unions are fine and so are strikes, but I should not be forced to support someone who has a job and refuses work, no matter what the reason. Therefore, I have decided to boycott Kroger's for at least 6 months, if not longer.
Teresa,
Will continue Not to shop at Kroger
Bill Herring, Charleston, WV
Krogers prices were too high to start with even with their discount card. I only shopped at Krogers for certain items which could not be found at the discount grocery stores. I would like to point out that I did not like the price gouging that Foodland and other stores in the area were doing while Kroger was closed. I personally budget my groceries each month and try to get as much food for my dollar as I can. I feel sorry for the people who receive food stamp allotments who did not get as much food for the dollar value during the strike. They hardly have enough to live on as it is. The state was smart for giving the Kroger employees unemployment because it encouraged Kroger to settle with the employees quicker than if they had not received unemployment.
Peg Bundy, Amma
Kroger is much more convienent for my family here in Dunbar. Hopefully, the prices won't reflect the days lost in the strike, seems that other stores increased their prices when the strike was about two weeks old. But life does go on!
Rob Morris, Dunbar
Absolutely not
Virginia, Chehalis
I will no longer shop at Krogers. I will most likely go to Wal-Mart or Foodland from now on. They seem to have better prices & much of the same things Krogers does.
Christopher Ryan, Sissonville
