Has the gas-station sniper caused you to change your habits at the pump?

A SAMPLING OF YOUR RESPONSES:

I have lived in this area all my life and I have never even thought about living in fear. The strangest feeling I have ever had was to go to the ATM alone at 3:00am Tuesday morning before leaving town for a business trip.
Troy D. Young, Pinch

I make sure I go BEFORE it gets dark, and definitely look around to see what is going. If my kids are in the car with me, I tell them to 'scoot down' in the seats until I'm finished.
Michele, Dunbar

when i need to fuel up i do it in the early afternoon and i am very aware of my surroundingschecking out all surrounding vehicles cars or trucks
D Shafer, Elkview

I am terrified to get gas anywhere near Charleston, at any time of day.
Jessica Lane, Nitro, WV

I never pump at night
Rob, Poca

I was widowed 3 years ago at the age of 47, becasuse of a car accident my husband was in. The devistation of the lose is still in my heart and memory as well as our children and families. I wish this sniper had followed me around for the last 3 years to see my pain. When you lose a loved one in an instant it changes your life and those around you forever. People who do this need to follow around someone who has last a loved one from the instant it happens for the next few years. You don't heal overnight. Let him sit outside my bedroom door and listen to me cry myself to sleep, let him look into the eyes of my 13 month old granddaughter that her grandfather will never see. The pain from the loss of someone lasts forever--life goes on-- but you live the loss, and think of that person EVERYDAY.You as an aquatintancs my think of him or her occasionally, but the wife, husband, mother, father or child lives the loss everyday.
Judy Reynolds, Charleston

I'm pretty sure that the TV just told me that there's a car chase going on *right now* and that there was another attempted sniping in Dunbar, but I don't see anything about this on your website. :(
Sam Varian, Cross Lanes

YES! He's forced some of us into state of panic. I know friends, nieghbors, and my own mother who won't even fill there gas tank after dark.
Jonathan Miller, Nitro, WV

I think the killer will be caught soon. If the police could do their investigation without all of the hype. Possibly drugs are involved, but more than likely it is just someone wanting attention or an ex military person trying to get a VA pension or disability.
J H C, Charleston

for the most part I go and fill up during the day light hours despite the heat and I happen to think that the authorities are doing a very complete investigation on this. thank you
s.stahl, dunbar

I wont gas up at night for a while.
Christine, Charleston

I felt kind of panicy today when I stopped to fill up.
Crystal, Clendenin

I only buy gas now during the day and I am more aware of my suroundings.
Marla Hudson, Charleston

I make sure I get gas before 6PM and try to do it early in the day before 12PM if possible. I truly believe that there is a sniper out there. I am from the Campbell's Creek area, and there are lots of drugs in that area and a lot of people do them, buy them and sell them, but I don't think this is drug related. How could the person that shot those people know where they were gonna be that close together...that just doesn't make sense to me. Plus, I never heard these two people's names in regard to the drug stuff...lots of other names, but never their names.
Anonymous, Charleston

Yes this is scary. And our cops are worthless. You chase a truck but lose it?? And Phil Morris sounds like a dumbass on TV. I prefer to listen to Dave Tucker, or even better, Chief Moose! Go Herd!!!
Bill Majdalany, Huntington

I just dont go in the evening anymore.
Patsy Pauley, So. Charleston

I went to Kroger's at dusk tonight and I was very much aware of this situation. I wouldn't even think of pulling up to gas pumps at night now!
Nancy Stephens, Charleston, Wv

I only go to gas stations that will pump my gas for me now.
Jennifer Smith, So.Chas.

It seems to me that the 'sniper' is just another terrorist. In order for him/her to succeed I would have to let him/her dictate how I am going to feel, think and react. I refuse to be afraid.
Karen Selina, Charleston

The sniper is a very selfish person. I think that it should be mandatory for gas stations in the chosen target area to close before dusk until this guy is caught. I am worried for my family members who live in the area, though they are taking precautions. I will rest better once this person is captured. The gas stations are not showing much concern for their employees or their customers by keeping late hours in view of recent events. No job is worth your life, nor is any trip. You can buy gas all day long.
Missy, Charlotte

I will continue to pump during the day in open areas until this madman is caught!
Brooks Cunningham, St. Albans

I am a truck driver and have to get fuel often. I pay attention to everything that goes on while I am getting gas and walking inside to pay. Also, I don't take my kids with me when I am going to be getting fuel.
Melody

Pay more attention to surrounds, and wait on others to be around same area.
Sue Morse, Charleston (Campbells Creek)

I don't fill up after dark. I only use pay at pump locations. When I do fill up, I am constantly watching. If I see anything that makes me feel uncomfortable, I stop pumping & leave
Laura A. Conley-Rinehart, Cross Lanes

I always pump gas before dark, and take notice of my surroundings first. I think everyone should be more cautious until this is solved.
S. Russell, East Bank

It's really scary to think that you could be standing there pumping your gas and the next thing you know your gone. Its a shame something like this is going on in a community like ours. This is a small communiy were not supposed to have these big city problems.
Tasha, Cross Lanes

While I am truly sad for the victims, I haven't changed my daily habits. Sure the thought crosses your mind when you look down and see that you are nearly out of gas, but the odds that you would be singled out as a victim in one of this madman's attacks are pretty slim. Everyone should be cautious and keep their eyes open for anything suspicious. However, over-reacting and locking yourself in the house will not solve anything.
Richard, St. Albans

Won't gas up or stop at a gas/convenience store after sunset.
Lloyd Mosier, Scott Depot

I am more aware of my surroundings and look around more when pumping gas now. I also get gas in the daytime now instead of the evening or night.
Clay, WV

When I pull into a gas station, I will try to remember to look around, near and far and pay more attention to my surroundings. Going to a gas station where they pump the gas for you is what I usually try to do. The coming of our Lord Jesus Christ is coming soon. What is this world coming too? Look up for your redemption draweth nigh!
S. Jude, Mingo County

I do not stop at stations after dark.
Deborah Wolfe, Kenna Wva

it makes me nervous even in the day because you never know where he might be.
Terri, Charleston

I absolutely will not get gas after dark, along with, I will not stop at a cpnvenience store to get something in the evening hours.
Shana Griffith

Yes, I am more aware of my surroundings while pumping gas. I told my mom that I feel like squating down between the pump and my vehicle while pumping. What really scares me is my baby in his car seat. Would someone try to target him while the vehicle is still. I try to not get gas when he is with me. To be honest, I probably would not even think twice about it; however, it hit closer to home since Jeanie Patton is my cousin.
Tamra, Parkersburg

I do not go to the gas station at night time. And sometimes I feel weird driving at night and when i see a truck, I feel theres enough crime in this world. People need to grow up we are all old enough to know better.
Tammy Crane, Charleston

First off all, I will definitely not be pumping gas after dark anywhere, expecially go-mart, where in order to pay you have to stand outside and wait for the cashier to get to the window. If I do have to pump gas, It will be in the daytime and I'll make sure I have my check-card with me so I won't have to be anywhere near the door.
David Houston, Belle

When my time comes to meet my Maker, I'll go whether I'm at a gas station or making dinner in my kitchen.
Donna Halstead, Clothier, WV

It has a little bit. I was always a little scared about standing outside of Go-Mart at the window after 11 p.m. Now I won't go until morning.
Sara Parsons, South Charleston

I had a tee shirt printed. On the front it says 'I ain't skeered a no sniper' with a target. On the back it says 'I pump standing up'
Jeff Frame, St. Albans

i am really scared
Deborah Morgan, St.Albans

I'm now more apt to fill up before dark.
April Mason, Charleston
