Question of the Day
EYEWITNESS NEWS QUESTION OF THE DAY RESPONSE

Should Israel be allowed to strike back at militants?

92% Yes:
Yes Votes
8% No:
No Votes

A SAMPLING OF YOUR RESPONSES:

Why would anyone expect Israel to sit back and let their citizens be bombed to death by radical militants from a country that will make no effort to control them.
Keith Smith, Grayson, KY

The same reason we have defended our own country, so sould Israel defend theres. When one does nothing to make a stand againest wrong, then wrong doers will have there way!
Deborah, Winfeild

Israel should have every right to defend herself, the same as the United States against Iraq and Afghanistan.
A. Fannin, Isonville

Any time a sovereign nation is attacked by terrorists it should be allowed to protect itself! Case in point, September 11, we the United States struck back at the terrorists that attacked our sovereign nation. Why should Israel have to stand by and let hamas attack them without being allowed to defend themselves regardless of the Mideast Peace/ Roadmap initiative?? If a sovereign nation is attacked by any and all factions, it should be allowed to defend itself. Bruce Nelson
Bruce Nelson, Jr., Madison

All countries, states, cities and such, should be able to protect themselves. Striking back is in my opinion, crime control and protecting themselves from future attacks. striking back will take out some if not all and reduce future deaths that may have resulted from that person or persons attacking.
Tammy Petry, Dawes WV

Just as the U.S. has the ability to take responsible legal action against terrorists and other law-breaking militants, so should Israel.
Cate Brown, Summersville

We just struck back at militants. Why should they not be able to defend themselves?
Don Mellert, Kenna

Israel should take the first step and pull out of occupied lands and stop assination raids. Only if they do that and if Hamas continues, then should they strike at militants.
Tom Brazeau, Charleston, WV

If it was America, we would be striking back also.
Vicki Paasch, Springfield,

If your attacked by someone, by all means fight back. If you don't fight back you will bw considered a coward and someone else will do the same thing.
Josh, Dunbar

Just as we responded to the 9/11 terrorists, Israel also has that right to protect themselves from terrorists.
Alan Staats, Kalamazoo, MI

If the U.S. has the right to defend itself against terrorist, than Isreal should also have this right. They are a sovereign nation just like any European country and the U.S. Isreal is given a lot of bad publicity. They are a conquering nation, just like the United States. Who here in this country would expect the U.S. to give this country back to the Native Indians? The fact is the most Arab countries and many of the Palestians don't want peace and until they do want peace there will be no peace!
Sarah Frame, Charleston

Hamas has stated that their goal is the destruction of both the State of Israel and the Jewish People. Israel has no choice but to destroy Hamas before Hamas destroys Israel.
Clayton, Gay

Israel is like a big bully
Roger Nester, Man

They should wipe them out.
CS, Milton

Hell yes !! Didnt we strike back after the 911 ordeal? They have just as much right to defend themselfs
Mark Abbott, Charleston

Israel should be able to defend its land and its people just as the U.S. has done in our battle against terrorism.
Wendy, Virginia Beach

Actually, it's a rather foolish question - wouldn't we want to be able to strike back? Are we going to listen to noises about political expedience? No. We did what we needed to do, so we shouldn't be surprised when they do what they need to do. I wonder what we would do if terrorists came into our country unimpeded and bombed buses or shopping centers or even large buildings full of people?
Sandy Hutchinson, Nitro
