Question of the Day
EYEWITNESS NEWS QUESTION OF THE DAY RESPONSE

Some online retailers have started voluntarily charging sales tax for online purchases. Do you save money by shopping tax free online?

Yes Votes
32% No:
No Votes

A SAMPLING OF YOUR RESPONSES:

The cost of shopping online is offset by the shipping. I do think that since online retailers are charging sales tax, we will see a decrease in online shopping.
ELMorgan, Charleston

I feel that not having to pay sales tax compensates for having to pay shipping charges. If I have to pay sales tax and shipping, I'll just go back to buying things the old fashioned way, at the store.
Christina Thomas, Gauley Bridge

We get taxed enough in WV already! Now we're going to be taxed from other states! This is crazy! No wonder everyone leaves WV, no one can afford the taxes!
A girl, WV

What You pay for shipping and handling makes up for not paying tax. It seems to come out about the same.
Lori, Wayne

Shipping charger cost a lot more then buying the items local.
Cloyd Thorn, Parkersburg

Not really, by the time you spend money on the shipping charges. the totals usually avg out to be the same.
Shaun, Cross Lanes

Shipping and handling eat up any savings. Buy something for $5.00, then have to pay $10.00 S/H.
Billie R. Paxton, Clendenin

I shop online because it is easier and more convenient than going to a store. I can comparison shop and finish my transaction faster. The price of an item does fiqure into whether or not I buy it but I never think about sales tax. The shipping cost is a bigger factor and that's something you can't mess with.
Judy, Parsons

I do save some money by buying online, but what retailers don't seem to get is that when buying online, the consumer has to pay for shipping and handling. A customer in a store doesn't pay for this. So in the long run, it comes out about even.
Sharon, Charleston

Many people save money on online purchaces, but still people get ripped of in some way, and it couses bad things.
Amy Hudson, Whitesville

You may or may not save money. You still have to look for the better deal. Online shopping can just be more convenient, and remember you will probably have to pay shipping on those online purchases. I just like the convenience, and it would not bother me if they did charge sales tax.
Gary, South Point

On some things you can save money. It is much easier to shop online than fighting with the idiots at our local chain stores.
Rob, St Albans
