A SAMPLING OF YOUR RESPONSES:

If someone has the nerve to break in,while you are home,Your life is in danger.I would shoot at them.
Roberta Bird, Jodie
I think we should be able to protect ourselves and our property. otherwise we should just post a sign outside our homes inviting the criminals to come in and help themselves.
Carly, Given
I think you should be able to protect your life and property with deadly force.
Paul Smith, Milton WV
with certianty that they intend harm aiming at the legs not intending to kill. and only to protect your self
Gilbert Sloan, Hurricane
If someone is bold enough to enter your private home then they are dangerous and should be dealt with accordingly
Barbara, Dailey
I think that if someone is brazen enough to come into your house, and the police aren't able to prevent it, a person should be able to defend his home.
Larry W Chapman II, Charleston
If you have no avenue of escape and the predator(s) still pose a threat to life or limb, I firmly believe that one should fire in self defense, but not necessarily to kill. I am not an advocate of shooting someone if they are fleeing the crime scene since the danger to life or limb has passed. Call the police.
Lawson Poling, Charleston
The constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
Pat Boggess, Evans
I think a person has the right to protect there home and there family. If a person is trying to break into your home then there is a chance that you family could get hurt or even killed, so therefore I do think you should be able to fire a gun at a person trying to break into your home.
Jessica VanMeter, Jodie
Your home is your private domain, I think you should be able to protect yourself and your family.
Gracie M. Rice, Jeffrey
It is in the constitution: you have the right to bear arms. In this day and time I feel you should protect yourself and your family in your own home by any means possible
Linda Hancock, Gallagher
I think we should have the right to protect our home.
Buford Gunnoe, Riverside
A person should be able to defend his home (and his family) using whatever means are necessary. We are obligated to do this, not only from a common-sense standpoint, but because God has told us that we should make every effort to safeguard ourselves and others from unprovoked attacks.
John Welch
You have the right to own and bear arms to protect yourself and personal property. It takes to long for law enforcement to arrive. It only takes seconds for a person who thinks that they are above the law to try and take what you have. It sometimes takes over fifteen minutes to and hour for law enforcement to arrive. One must protect their own families lives and property. It is only right!!!
Eric Smith, Oceana
Law abiding citizens should never be deprived of the right to defend themselves from the criminal element. Police may maintain public order but cannot protect individuals from random acts of violence.
George D. Walkup, Jr., Evans, WV
A man's home is his castle and private property. He should be able to defend it because it is his. If he cannot defend it, he may as well hang out a sign saying
Don Gibson, So. Charleston
We are a putnam county residents and you should be able to use any means availible to protect your home or families. By all means I very much agree that you should be able to protectyour home.
Bernice Carpenter, Poca
I think that your home is your castle and that you should be able to fire at and kill anyone who breaks into your home. If every home had guns and the criminals know it, there would be very few of these types of crime. I think that you would be doing the public a very big favor if you would take a look at the crime in England where the goverment has made it a crime for a citizen to defend themself.
Watt Gilbert, Racine
I think every person has the right to protect their home and family by using a gun if someone breaks into your home. I know i will
Alan B, Redhouse
I used to be totally against guns in my home, but i am a single woman living alone and i was raped in my home if i would have had a gun maybe my life would be like it used to be i know believe in a gun for my protection as well as my community.I believe we have the right to protect the only place we are suppose to feel safe.I think the criminals need no protection once they decide to break the law and invade our precious space normally its to late, once they come into your home you have no rights. Sincerly a hard working flight attendant..
Kelly, Charleston
Look at my screen name and you can tell how I feel about punks that break in holmes
todd thaxton, sissonville,wv
If someone threatens your environment, you should have the right to protect family, home and the property that you have worked to accumulate. The long arm of the law can't be everywhere and the perpatrators certainly are not going to wait around for them. Besides in this day and time how do you know they are not armed. Knowing that they face injury or death in a breakin would most likely make them think twice before acting. With the lenient penalties they face we invite them to continue their practices.
J L Whitlock, Alum Creek
It is your property and no one should be there with out being invited.
Cloyd Thorn, Parkersburg
I will protect my family and property.
Tim Shanks, Saint Marys
If there gutsy enough to break in, I'm gutsy enough to shot. It's my property.
Jerry, Elkview
It's my property and I have a right to protect it and my family.
Jim, Dunbar
When we can't protect ourselves, our home and our family. Criminals will have nothing to fear and will take over. Wake up people, even criminals have to have some limitations!
Lisa Lovejoy, Palermo
Any one that is breaking into my home is a threat to myself and my family's. I am not going to wait to see if the intruder has a weapon. Some argue that what if a friend or other family members enters my home unannounced? I have a key to my mothers house but I will not enter without announcing who I am. No answer, then I don't go in.
Rod Matheny, Ripley, WV
You are taught in firearms training that shooting at someone is the very last resort, but if someone breaks into your home it raises the level of danger to everyone in the home. Aim at the kneecaps!
Susan, Dunbar
When it comes to protecting the safety of myself and the ones I love, I would do ANYTHING to keep them safe.
Amanda , Institute, WV
I would not think twice about it. Shoot them all dead let god sort them out.
Rob, St Albans
You should be able to not only defend your home but also your property
Jeff Miller, Alum Creek
If someone is breaking into your house, they are not coming for a frienly visit. You should have the right to protect your belongs, yourself and your family. Absolutely
J. Zinn, Clendewnin, WV 25045
It should be against the law to have one shell left in your gun after a thug comes in to your home.
Daniel Cummings, Sissonville
Yes, I do. These people are violating the privacy and the safety of our homes. If you wait for the Police to get to the home (provided the burglar didnt cut your phone lines) you could be dead. When a person takes the liberty of breaking into another person's home, they are taking their lives into their own hands.
Toni Buzzard, Leon
Breaking into a dwelling with intent to commit a crime is a FELONY in WV. A person in their own home shouldn't be expected to wait for a criminal to show if their intent is to simply steal or commit a more heinous act
James P. Agee, St. Albans
I believe our home is our personal santuary and people shouldn't have the right to break in and steal what the honest person has worked for all their lives.
Kathy, Poca
If someone breaking into your home you should have the right to protect your family and property. The person breaking in is breaking the law.
Amanda Caplinger, Ravneswood
They arent coming in for tea, you have to assume your life is in danger.
Beth
If that person or persons are in my home uninvited he/she will meet there maker. My gun is loaded at all times to protect my family.I have a great faith in my local law officers, but they can only be so many places at a time.and Im 1st best at my house. And thats my right!
Scott Nasby
Anyone should be able to protect their home and family against intruders without any penalty, even if it means the intruder is injured.
Alice J. Kayrouz, Charleston, WV
We as decent citizens are the first ones that the attacker encounters first before encountering the Police Officer. So we do need to protect our ownselves cause it is our lives at stake when some one violates our values. Breaking in our homes while we are in our homes. The telephone and calling 911 is only a small help but it is not real security.
Darlene Foster, Scott Depot
I think we should be able to defend our homes and our personal property. if you try to steal, rape, or take anything that don't belong to you and you get caught then face the consiquences
William Rowe, Welch
