EYEWITNESS NEWS QUESTION OF THE DAY RESPONSE

Kanawha County Prosecutor Mike Clifford has been charged with sexual harrassment. Should he step down?

26% No:

A SAMPLING OF YOUR RESPONSES:

I think that he should resign because he prosecutes people for the same crimes and he should be prosecuted. And should get the harshes sentence their is.
Jimmy , Davin

I don't think Mike Clifford should step down. As a woman I know women joke around the office as well as the men. If these women were being harrassed why didn't they come forward earlier. Seems like to me they were just upset about something.
Linda Canterbury, Marmet

If it were any other office, wouldn't he make the official step down? What's good for one is good for all I think.
Sharon Moore, Charleston

I have watched and read about the happenings with this case, its comes at a shock to me. Because you would think that in a county office, that they would talk about sex. I dont know it just seem, like there would be more important things to talk about them sex. Exspecially dealing with the county prosecutor, who is suppose to prosecute would be sexual harassers. I think he should step down, we just dont needs these kinds of topics such as sex, i think discussed in our county offices. Mr Clifford should step down as prosecutor.
Chris, Clendenin

I agree with Mike Clifford when he stated the office that they work in is not a place for sensitive individuals. Yes, it's fun to joke with fellow office employees but discretion should be used when certain topics are touched upon. Certainly sexual discussions have no place in the workplace and should have been avoided. However, if the individuals who filed sexual harassment engaged in the same act, they are just as guilty and are probably just trying to get Mike Clifford to step down. Most of us talk very differently outside the work force anyway. For Mr. Clifford it has just become a learning experience.
Ron Lawson, South Charleston

Absolutely not! He has not been found guilty, nor convicted of a crime.
Betty J. Dooley, Charleston

He should go before Playboy decides to do a 'Girls of the Courthouse' special issue.
Meg Wilson, Charleston

Although he should not have participated in the behavior, he is human, and office talk of that nature is common. He felt that he was talking with friends, and just joking.
Anita Packtor, Swiss WV

When did we decide a man was presumed guilty? I thought the American way was to presume innocence until PROVEN guilty.
Sandra Deel, Nitro

My opinion that Mike Clifford should step down was reached long before this scandal.
Kenneth Young, Charleston

People have been talking like this for years in the Prosecuting attorneys office. I've been witness to it even when Bill Forbes was in the office (To be clear, I NEVER heard it from mr. Forbes himself)
Sam Ellis, South Charleston

Mr. Clifford has not performed his duties as a manager. His disregard for the rules and regulations are a disgrace. His neanderthal attitude and excuses for his conduct are inexcusable.
R Burton, Clendenin

lot of wv police officers had to resign for a lotreasons somewhat a lot less.this man is kanawha county chief law enforcement.
willam seaymarm, marmet

Mr. Clifford let such banter happen, which is a clear violation of office policy, and the law. Mr.Clifford is not above the law, He must remove himself from office, at once.
Dennis Kyle, Hurricane

I think it is disgusting that this type of thing is goin on in our government buildings on taxpayer's time.
Larry Reed, Charleston

The prosecuting attorney's work place should be free of any indescretion of sexual harassment and talk. He should be held to a higher standard.
Betty Lanhan, Charleston

He is an elected public servant who should be above question. It is inappropriate for that kind of behavior to be going on inside the prosecuting attorney's office. He has admitted it is occuring and he is allowing it to occur. Women are frequently victims of sexual harassment and have to either quit their employment or
Vicki Stephens, Charleston

As a leader in the community and as a leader in an important public office Clifford has a responsibility to set the tone and uphold the accepted best practices in the work place. By his own admission, the leadership he was providing, failed to do so and it has further shown that his office did not understand the problem. He should go.
Don Wyant, Dunbar

A prosecutor involved in a scandal?. What a shocker!
Ralph, So Chas

If Mr.Clifford has to step down ,the two ladies should step down too.
Bonnis Mullins, Cowen, West Virginia

ABSOLUTELY NOT!
L. Hunt, Charleston

I find it hard to believe that anyone in the prosecutor's office could actually be productive in such a stressful environment. Instead of prosecuting criminals they have to deal with sexual harassment and the internal investigations and lawsuits. Nothing productive could be coming out of that office.
Susan, Dunbar

He should step down, if he admitted to it. He was their boss and he should know better, and grow up!
Ruthann Burdette, Ripley

People can say all kinds of things about us, but we know what is right in our heart! Furthermore, he has not been found guilty of a crime.
Betty J. Dooley, Charleston

I think mike ciffords needs to prove it, need to get lie dectector. saying that he has no intention sexual harrassment with this women, if he don't take it, LIES OR NO LIES Mike Clifford Step out !
Jefffery , Nitro

From all the stories I've seen and heard, sounds to me like it's the pot calling the kettle black.
Jim Nelson, Madison, WV

Is this all they have to do? Talk about sex!
Beth Fisher, Scott Depot
