Reported by: Associated Press
Reported: Wednesday, June 18, 2014 2:22 PM EDT
CORONA, Calif.

A Southern California pastor awaiting trial on kidnap and assault charges has been indicted in a separate case accusing him and four others of defrauding investors out of millions of dollars.

The Orange County Register reported Tuesday that 56-year-old Lonny Remmers, head of Corona's Heart of Worship Community Church, is charged with wire fraud and conspiracy.

Remmers and the others are accused of soliciting investments using businesses that had limited or no assets.

He was arrested June 5 and appeared in federal court in Riverside. He was ordered to report to federal court in Toledo, Ohio, on July 1.

Remmers has pleaded not guilty in a kidnap and assault case that accuses of him of attacking a 13-year-old boy who was brought by his mother to be disciplined.
