The development arm of Ohio State University bought and closed two carryout stores to try to reduce crime in a major campus corridor.
Most of the purchase cost is covered by a grant from Ohio State. Money was also contributed by the Columbus Foundation and Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing.
Officials say it's another step in revitalizing the neighborhood bordered by downtown and Ohio State, an effort that began more than a decade ago in the neighborhood known as Weinland Park.
