Name released in fatal Ohio motorcycle crash; friends assisted in finding accident scene

Reported by: Associated Press
Reported: Monday, June 9, 2014 6:43 AM EDT

Authorities say a dead motorcyclist who was found in heavy weeds next to Interstate 70 in central Ohio after a search has been identified as a 25-year-old man.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says David Chanthavisay of Canal Winchester was found after a trooper came upon some of his family members and friends walking along I-70 near Columbus searching for him Saturday.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the searchers told troopers that Chanthavisay had crashed in that area, possibly Friday night.

Police found his body after the patrol sent an aviation unit to the scene, and sent a signal to Chanthavisay's cellphone.

The initial investigation says the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control and went about 400 feet off the road.
