Ohio man sentenced to life with chance for parole in recorded rape of child

Reported by: Associated Press
Reported: Wednesday, May 14, 2014 11:15 AM EDT

A Toledo man who recorded himself sexually abusing a 3-year-old has been sentenced by a judge to life in prison with the chance of parole after 15 years.

Lucas County Judge Myron Duhart told 25-year-old Najee Bryant that it was the most shocking crime he'd ever seen.

A prosecutor says Bryant sexually abused the 3-year-old while he was babysitting the child.

The Blade newspaper reports authorities found the video after Bryant let his neighbor borrow his phone with the recording.

Bryant in April pleaded to a type of rape charge under which he maintained his innocence while acknowledging prosecutors had enough evidence to convict him.

Bryant's attorney said he was addicted to pornography but had no other sexual offenses. Bryant also apologized in court and said he needed help.
