Reported by: Associated Press
Reported: Friday, February 21, 2014 9:41 AM EST

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ed FitzGerald and his running mate plan a series of separate stops around Ohio to present what they're calling "the real state of the state."

The tour addressing Republican Gov. John Kasich's policies kicks off Saturday with FitzGerald in Cleveland and nearby Medina (meh-DY'-nuh), the site of Kasich's State of the State address Monday. FitzGerald, the Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) County executive, also speaks in Columbus that day.

FitzGerald's running mate, Dayton-area attorney Sharen Neuhardt (NOO'-hahrt), is scheduled to appear in Youngstown and Zanesville on Saturday.

The statewide swing takes FitzGerald to the Ormet aluminum smelting plant in Hannibal on Sunday, while Neuhardt visits Toledo and Lima (LY'-muh).

On Monday, FitzGerald is in Akron and Lakewood. Neuhardt visits Cincinnati and Dayton.
