Ohio's unsolved homicides initiative focuses on 2007 fatal shooting of Cincinnati man

Reported by: Associated Press
Reported: Saturday, February 1, 2014 4:52 PM EST

Ohio's renewed effort to solve cold-case homicides is now focusing on the unsolved slaying of a 24-year-old Cincinnati man in 2007.

The state attorney general's office is looking for new clues into the slaying of John Harris, who was shot outside his house in the city's Northside neighborhood.

Harris was killed June 7, 2007, just after returning home from visiting relatives. Police believe robbery was the motive.

The attackers stole Harris' car, as well as a necklace that was known to attract attention because of its value.

Harris' car was found nearby, but the suspects got away after a high-speed chase.

The state's unsolved homicides initiative was developed in September 2012. It included the creation of a statewide database to include all of the unsolved killings in the state.
