Like many Ohio snowbirds, the Cleveland Orchestra is spending time in Florida this winter.

The famed orchestra's annual Miami Residency began in late January and continues Saturday night and two more weekends in February and March.

The Miami Herald says the orchestra's performance of Schubert's Symphony No. 2 last weekend had tempos that "moved with the unwavering precision of a clock."

According to The Plain Dealer (, the residency programs are almost entirely unique to Miami to help the newer audience develop its own musical passion.

The orchestra also has a smaller residency program at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music.

Cleveland musicians will lead the school orchestra in a side-by-side rehearsal. The artists will coach students in chamber music and prepare for a collaborative performance.
