Pioneering Ohio legislator William Mallory dead at 82; longest-serving House majority leader

Former Ohio legislator William L. Mallory has died in Cincinnati at age 82. He was the state's first black House majority leader and longest-serving in its history.
Elected to the Ohio House in 1966, the elder Mallory served 28 years in the Legislature with two decades as the Democratic leader in the House.
He and wife Fannie had six children. Besides the former two-term Cincinnati mayor, son Dale Mallory is in the Legislature and sons William Jr. and Dwane are municipal court judges.
