Art museum in Ohio selling off surplus works from storage, money will help buy new artworks

An art museum in northern Ohio has been holding a garage sale of sorts.
The museum so far has sold about 200 works, bringing in nearly $1 million. The money will go toward buying new pieces.
Toledo museum officials tell The Blade newspaper in Toledo that selling off surplus art is a common practice for museums.
Museum director Brian Kennedy says it doesn't make sense to hold onto to pieces that haven't been shown in decades and aren't likely to see the light of day.
Plus, he says prices for art are strong right now.
Another 50 works are scheduled to be auctioned in January.
