A high-profile group of companies active in Pennsylvania's booming natural gas industry has picked its second president.
The coalition formed in 2008 as interest in the Marcellus Shale began to spread. It includes Chevron, Shell and Range Resources.
The 53-year-old Spigelmyer arrives at a time when the coalition is criticizing Democratic gubernatorial candidates who are proposing to raise taxes on the industry. The state's high court also is considering a challenge to an industry-supported law limiting the ability of municipalities to control drilling activity.
Spigelmyer touts the economic good of cheap natural gas for home heating and as fuel for a wide range of manufacturers.
