A federal appeals court says an Ohio girl who was arrested after making an obscene gesture toward police can continue with a lawsuit against the officers.
The girl who was 11 when she was arrested about two years ago is the daughter of a woman who was shot and killed by a Lima officer in 2008.
Her family later received a $2.5 million wrongful-death settlement.
Police say the girl was charged with persistent disorderly conduct after making the gesture and refusing to stop.
The girl's attorney told The Blade newspaper in Toledo that police targeted the girl because of her family's history with police.
