Abortion opponents in Ohio back bill to boost tax credits, reduce wait times for adoptions

Ohio's largest anti-abortion group is pushing a proposal to reduce wait times and increase tax credits for adoptive families.
Republican state Sen. Shannon Jones tells the newspaper she'll introduce a measure soon calling for increasing Ohio's tax credit for adoptive families from $1,500 to $10,000, spreading the benefit over four years.
The proposal will also allow final adoption decrees within 60 days after birth, rather than 12 months.
Jones also says she wants to prevent birth mothers from fraudulently collecting living expenses during pregnancy from more than one family by having lawyers or adoption agencies administer such payments.
