Reported: Saturday, April 26, 2014 12:35 PM EDT
LOUISVILLE, Ky.

The American Conservative Union's Political Action Committee has endorsed Republican U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell for re-election.

ACU Director of Government Affairs Larry Hart cited McConnell's lifetime ACU rating of 90 out of a possible 100 as demonstrating McConnell's consistent support for conservative principles.

McConnell said in a statement he was proud to receive the endorsement.

McConnell will face off against businessman Matt Bevin in the Republican primary on May 20. The winner will most likely face Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes in November.
