Arkansas State holds off late Western Kentucky rally for 7-5 win in college baseball

JONESBORO, Ark.


The Arkansas State baseball team held off a late Western Kentucky rally to beat the Hilltoppers 7-5 and salvage one game of a three game Sun Belt Conference weekend series in Bowling Green, Ky.

ASU's Bradley Wallace allowed one run in seven innings to improve to 3-3 on the season while designated hitter Zach Maggio was four for four and scored four runs for the Red Wolves. First baseman Matt Burgess drove in four runs for ASU.

Western Kentucky rallied with four runs with two outs in the bottom of the ninth but fell short.

ASU improves to 17-15 overall and 8-4 in the Sun Belt while WKY falls to 18-5 on the season and 6-6 in conference play.
