Residents in some eastern Kentucky counties are still without running water after record cold temperatures last week caused water meters to break and lines to rupture.
In Perry County, schools remain closed Tuesday due to the water shortage and state officials decided to close Buckhorn State Park until water service is restored.
Media reported that about 2,000 homes and businesses remained without water on Monday night in Perry County and about 1,000 remained without water in Johnson County.
The Floyd County Health Department in Prestonsburg and the Pavilion in Hazard have been offering free showers to anyone without water.
Crews are working to repair the damage and restore service as soon as possible.
