GOLDEN POND, Ky.
Forecasts of 3 to 5 inches of rainfall in western Kentucky beginning Friday have prompted officials at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area to temporarily close Turkey Bay Off-Highway Vehicle Area.
To check trail conditions before heading to Land Between the Lakes, call 924-2000, option 1, or visit http://www.lbl.org and click on "Alerts & Notices" on the left side of the page.
LBL says after heavy rainfall, visitors should note their surroundings on any of the area's hiking, biking and horseback riding trails to stay safe.
Land Between the Lakes is a 170,000-acre recreation area on the Kentucky-Tennessee border between the Cumberland and Tennessee rivers.
