Republican U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie has filed for re-election to Kentucky's 4th District congressional seat.
A former judge-executive in Lewis County, Massie was elected to a two-year term last year with backing from the tea party.
So far, he has drawn neither Republican nor Democratic opposition, but the filing deadline isn't until late January.
Voters in the 4th District, which stretches across the northern tier of Kentucky from the Louisville suburbs to Ashland, tend to elect GOP congressmen. Republicans have largely owned the district since 1967, except for a six-year stint when it was held by former Democratic Rep. Ken Lucas.
