Two years ago, Rebecca King was on a path to failure.
She bounced back and forth between the homes of different relatives and foster care. She also was arrested for shoplifting from a local Wal-Mart.
After 10 months in a group home, her probation officer introduced her to the idea of a new school in Christian County, the 21st Century Learning Academy.
The alternative school opened in August. Students who might have otherwise dropped out of school because of different personal reasons are welcomed into the academy
This year's enrollment — 81 students — comes from different family situations and different economic situations.
