A one-time director of marketing publications for the University of Louisville has won a $412,000 verdict against the school in a whistleblower lawsuit.
Harper claimed her job was eliminated after she complained about wasteful spending at the university. She lost on a claim of gender discrimination.
Jurors awarded her about $225,000 in back pay on the whistleblower claim and the rest of the damages for mental anguish.
Neither Harper nor her lawyer, Michael Augustus, could be reached for comment.
UofL spokesman Mark Hebert said Harper was one of seven employees laid off in 2011 as part of a larger "reduction in force."
