The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation has announced seven projects that will be funded with more than $7 million in grant money to restore and maintain forestlands in eight southeastern states from the Carolinas to Texas.
The money is being used in three areas including longleaf pine forests along the coastal plain of the Carolinas. Another project area is forests in the southern Cumberland Plateau running from Kentucky through Tennessee and into northern Alabama and Georgia.
The third area is the piney woodlands in Louisiana and east Texas.
Projects include managing forestlands with controlled burns and purchasing seedlings for planting.
