Dismissed police chief asks Ky high court to take up case

Former Augusta Police Chief Greg Cummins has asked the Kentucky Supreme Court to take up the case of his dismissal.
Cummins told The Ledger-Independent that after 33 years on the job "I was let go without just cause."
Mayor John Laycock fired Cummins in December 2011. Augusta officials say they are aware of the appeal, but declined further comment.
Cummins says he wants the justices to hear the case because the firing took place without reason. Cummins has recently joined a police department in northern Kentucky.
Laycock tapped Augusta Police Deputy Kelly Baxter as the new chief.
