Kentucky governor says Medicaid managed-care claims being processed more quickly

Gov. Steve Beshear says complaints about Kentucky's Medicaid managed-care system have dropped and claims are being processed more quickly.
Some advocates say the system remains plagued with problems. Sheila Schuster, executive director of the Kentucky Mental Health Coalition, says there's still a disconnect.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that Beshear vetoed a bill in April designed to help hospitals and doctors receive prompt payment from three Medicaid managed-care companies. Instead, Beshear implemented his own plan to deal with complaints by health providers.
Kentucky now has about 700,000 people in Medicaid managed care.
