A United Way chapter in central Kentucky has cut off funding to a Boy Scouts council due to the national scouting organization's ban on gay Scout leaders.
That amounts to about 5 percent of the regional scouting council's overall budget.
The United Way chapter's president, Bill Farmer, said Thursday the decision isn't adversarial. He says his group would like to resume the funding but says the national Boy Scouts' policy is out of step with local United Way policy.
Chip Armishaw, scout executive for the regional Boy Scouts council, says his group is saddened to lose a longtime partner but says his group will move forward.
