A lawyer representing a former state representative accused of sexual harassment has filed a response to a lawsuit saying the claims are barred by the statute of limitations and should be dismissed.
The lawsuit was filed Oct. 1 by two legislative staffers who contend Arnold inappropriately touched them and made lewd and vulgar comments.
The women's lawyer, Thomas Clay of Lousville, said there is no legal problem with the five-year statute of limitations on Arnold's behavior.
Attorney General Jack Conway, representing the state, filed a response Tuesday saying the state should be dismissed because it is "legally indistinguishable" from the Legislative Research Commission, another defendant.
