The University of Louisville has opened a downtown building that's expected to become a research hub for the region.
The development has been talked about for a decade and is spearheaded by the UofL Foundation, the school's fundraising arm.
Gov. Steve Beshear said Wednesday the new research park will be a key driver in Louisville's transformation into a research hub.
The project was delayed by the economic downturn.
UofL President James Ramsey says tenants have agreed to leases for all but 3,000 square feet of the 200,000-square foot building. The lead tenant is Atria Senior Living, one of the country's largest operators of senior housing.
