The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to auction off four tracts of land with buildings that were preserved as part of a road project in Covington.
Three of the buildings are brick houses. The fourth is a brick and frame commercial building that formerly housed a lumber company.
Their preservation was part of the state's agreement with the Federal Highway Administration for federal funding of the $24 million 12th Street Corridor project in the northern Kentucky city. The street serves as a doorway to Covington, with a direct connection to Interstate 75.
The project turned a narrow street into a boulevard with double traffic lanes.
