The state has purchased more than 4,200 acres of property in western Kentucky for $12.6 million to preserve it for activities such as hunting, fishing and wildlife viewing.
The new acquisition runs along the Tradewater and Ohio rivers in Crittenden County.
Nearly half the funding came from the Kentucky Heritage Land Conservation Board, while around 40 percent came from the U.S. Forest Service's Forest Legacy Program. Fish and Wildlife paid about $1.1 million from its federal funding.
